Stayed from 14 - 16 March 2019. We were lucky as Shirakawago's tourist centre staff managed to get us accomodation here when we were caught out in a sudden heavy snow. Take note that the location is up in a hill, away from main village but the resort offers a free hotel shuttle van service.... but giving great views going to or leavuming the resort. The hotel staff is not 100% fluent in English, they have Pocketalk device but they were 100% helpful to us. Rent snow boots from them for free, makes it much easier and fun to walk in snow! They have umbrellas to rent out too. Dont forget to head to their little musuem on the eco habitat and indoor family snow park, we discovered it too late! Although we had a great 15mins of fun! You need to embrace onsen culture here as there is no attached shower to the room. Toiletries and hairdryer are provided in the onsen. We will never forget our outdoor onsen experience... running in gleefully... with snow built up on on the rocks around us and snow falling gently on our faces as we soaked in the hot water goodness ❤ our 4 person room was adequate. You can use self service coin laundry and dryer machine. They serve only western meal for breakfast and it was delicious. Thank you to the staff of Toyota Eco institute! We had a great stay and hopefully we'll be back again in summer to explore...

We had a very pleasant stay at Toyota Shirakawa-Go Eco-Institute. The facilities were thought through to the detail. We enjoyed the onsen after a day of exploration. The guided tour walk offer by the hotel was the main reason why we picked to stay here over others. The extra knowledge we learnt about the surrounding is much appreciated. It also made us felt comfortable to explore the area afterwards. Thank you Kagawa-san for recommending us the trail. We got to see the nature a bit more ☺️

Last but the least, to our surprise, we would like to compliment the chef at the restaurant. The meals were exceptional and creative! We enjoyed very much the interpretation of Japanese ingredients into French cuisine. It was perfectly paired and balanced. We also enjoyed the variety of desserts at the end. It is a nice touch, particularly when it comes to dessert decision dilemma 😆 Thank you!

It was a perfect place to wind down at the end of our long...

The building quality is very neat and clean. The dinner course and breakfast buffet are amazing. The staff are very polite and helpful. There are a lot of family activities you can do here. The hotel located a little bit far from the village, but that's make the hotel environment very quiet and dedicated. If you insist to go to the village, you can ask the staff for a shuttle bus service. There is no private bathroom in my booked room. Maybe the hotel offered you only hot spring bathing (Onsen). The wifi is not that good when there are many guest in the hotel. If you ok with hot spring bathing, do not have any business in the village and do not require internet connection while living, this is very good hotel to stay and enjoy the...

A beautiful location which is only a few minutes drive to Shirakawa. There arent many things to do in the evening, but the hotel does have a small shop to buy beer and cup noodles! Staffs were pleasant, and the rooms were in good size. Not many people stayed whilst we were there on a Friday night, but I guess people would only do a day trip to Shirakawa rather than stay over overnight. Overall, a good experience with the hotel. We had half board (French food). Foods were delicious and came out promptly, one after another. Breakfast was a buffet. The hotel has an onsen, and it has both indoor and outdoor space.

A great hotel in the Shirakawa-go area. The food was delicious and featured the famous-in-Japan Hida beef. Staff were friendly and helpful. The building is modeled after the grass-roofed houses, but the rooms and roof are fully insulated, warm, and have really nice layouts and view. There are also many activities you can sign up for, including snow shoe hikes (even OK for young children) and others. The hot spring baths are also fantastic, especially the outdoor one where you can luxuriate in hot water, stare up at the stars and feel the snow falling on your face in winter.
