An absolutely magnificent night here. The hotel itself is very good, it doesn't have elevator that's the only inconvenience, but the rooms are fantastic with amazing views, the public bathrooms are very good as well. The service here is so good, they have been very gentle. They also gave us a welcome present as well! We went to see the Shodoshima festival, and when it finished it started to rain a lot, no taxis or buses at that hour as well and an hour walking from there, and they kindly came to pick us, they were so nice! Getting there is a little bit difficult from Tonosho (not from Ikeda though) and the price is expensive as you pay per guest, but it's very worth it, I really recommend it. We knew Japanese, but they really made an effort to communicate with us in English, so is okey going there even if your Japanese is...

A good choice of souvenirs are available, as well as on-site coin laundry. Not sure about English support, however, we used Japanese the whole time.
It's a little tough to be here without a car, however it's possible. There are bus routes nearby that can take you around the island. Some walking is required to get to the bus stops. Be sure to check the times. The hotel staff can also call a taxi for you.
My only complaint is the drying machine at the coin laundry is terrible. It may as well not be there, because it doesn't dry much. An hour of drying did nothing for some of my clothes. Otherwise, this is a...
Read moreKokuminshukusha Shodosima is located on a little hill top with great western exposure. I enjoyed the great sunset both days I stayed there. The room was comfortable with two semi-double (as the Japanese call it) beds. The amenities included Japanese yukata (cotton kimono), kimono jacket, towels and toothbrushes and rasors. The room also has a small fridge and a safe for guests to use. Unfortunately, the facility feels outdated except for certain rooms (including the one I stayed in) that had been improved. My plan included both dinner and breakfast, and they were adequate, but not exciting. The staff members were nice and friendly, and gave us a lot of useful advice in sightseeing. Overall, both food and facility needs a little...
