No-no-Hana Sanso — Hotel in Takayama

Highly recommend to stay at No-no-Hana Sanso when visiting the area! We had a truly wonderful stay and the best stay out of our entire trip when we visited in January this year.

The hotel is very cozy and beautiful, and well maintained. When we arrived in the evening during winter in January, when entering the hotel there is a cozy warm fireplace lit up in the middle of the lobby area. Which made our day after a long day of travel. The hotel lady owner and staff warmly greeted us and served us welcome drinks, and helped us to take photos near the fireplace, thank you for the warm welcome and great hospitality!

Our room with the mountain views was absolutely stunning where we could see beautiful views of the snow covered mountains from the window our room. The room was very cozy and the futon mats comfortable. We had a very good sleep and rest. The hotel environment was also very comfortable peaceful.

The dinner and breakfast meals at the hotel was absolutely phenomenal and amazing. The meals were very carefully prepared using fresh local ingredients, and the food presentation and taste was very refined, we really enjoyed the meals! And the meals were freshly prepared right in front of us, with the hotel staff and owners patiently sharing and explaining to us different dishes. The hida beef served was one of the best, it was so soft and juicy that it felt like it melted in our mouths. The soup, fish and desserts dishes were wonderful as well. We would like to thank the hotel staff especially the lady boss and lady staff who were so friendly and chatting and introducing the food to us. Thank you for the great and warm hospitality.

The hotel onsen was very beautiful and comfortable. The outdoor onsen could see the beautiful views outside. We had a relaxing time at the onsen.

The hotel is amazing and wonderful in many aspects, and we highly recommend it! Most importantly and above all, it is the kind and wonderful people at the hotel, including staff and owners of the hotel, that has made our stay extra special and memorable in our hearts, we feel like we truly experienced the beauty of Japan and the wonderful people. We stayed at this ryokan in Takayama last winter, about a year ago. After trying to book several places in the area, we were lucky to find this charming ryokan that accepted our reservation over the phone.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by a kind female host dressed in traditional Japanese attire. Her hospitality made a wonderful first impression. Thank you for such warm and touching hospitality—it truly left a lasting impression. At the time, there were only a few guests—just one other group besides us—so it felt peaceful and private.

Our room was simple but comfortable, with tatami flooring and futon bedding. The ryokan features a spacious onsen, both indoor and outdoor. Unfortunately, it was too cold for me to try the outdoor bath, but it looked inviting.

We also booked the dinner set, which was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The meal included fresh local fish and vegetables, and we could really feel the care put into each dish. The highlight was the Hida beef—absolutely exceptional. The rice was so good I ended up asking for three extra bowls!

Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan in the Takayama area. Just be cautious if you’re driving in winter, as the roads can be covered...

また行きたいと思わせる宿でした。☆4.5 温泉は館内にある内風呂と露天風呂のみ利用しましたが、内風呂は特に掛け流し感がすごくて感動しました。お湯が溢れる様を見ては、あぁ、幸せだなぁと思いました。お肌もツルツルになりますし、クセのない入りやすい温泉だと思いました。お風呂にエクササイズ用の鉄棒？があったのも嬉しいです。 部屋もきれいに清掃してありますし、半纏がかわいいのとお風呂に行く為のかごバッグが用意されていたのがうれしいポイントでした。水の豊かなところならではと思いますが、川の流れる音が圧巻です！雨が降っていたからか増水したのでしょうか、、勝手な推測なので違ってたらごめんなさい🙏Wi-Fiも使えます。パスワードはフロントに記載ありました。 ロビーでは薄寒い気温だったからか暖炉に火を入れて下さっており、食後のデザートや朝のコーヒーを頂いた時に暖炉前で寛げたことはほっこりする思い出です。また、ガラス張りのロビーから錫杖岳の雄大な景色を眺めることができるのも良かったです。 食事はキッチンを囲んでのカウンターで頂くスタイルだったのですが、コロナ対策は抜かりないと感じました。品数は豊富で、全て美味しく頂きました。揚げたての天ぷらを何種類も出していただき、その中でもとうもろこしの天ぷらはかなりの美味しさでした。メニューの構成も素晴らしく、ふきやもみじの葉やあじさい、栗のいが付きの小枝など宿の周りに自生してると思われる自然の植物でさり気なく飾り付けをして提供して下さる心意気にも感謝です。朝ごはんも美味でした。おくどさん？で炊かれたお米の美味しさは特筆すべきもの、お味噌汁もだしがとにかくおいしいと思いました。 コロナ禍以降恐らく換気のため空調設備に手を入れられたのかと。内風呂の天井は真新しく、換気口が常に動いている感じありましたし、部屋も換気口が真新しく、エアコンも新しいのが取り付けられていました。 接客も限られた人員で回されていると思うのですが、せせこましい町中で生きてる身としては何だか気持ちもおおらかになるような感じがしました。色々話しかけて頂いたり、地元のお話を伺ったりと楽しく過ごせましたし、外国の従業員の方の笑顔がとても素敵でした。思わずこちらも笑顔になります。素朴でアットホームな雰囲...
