Visited on my way back from shinhodaka ropeway. I wanted to for hot springs short break and this was introduced by the okuhida onsen visitor center, they helped me make a phone call for reservations.
The walking distance from nakaokougen bus stop is less than 5 min. Visitors can only choose private bath at cost of JPY 1,500 for 40min. Read moreWe stayed at this onsen for two nights and loved it. Rooms are spacious and clean, but the highlight was the baths, staff and food! This onsen is lucky to be located in a place of the river that shields the baths so they are open to views of the river and mountains! The onsen is very close to the rope-car (cable-car) that can take you up the mountains for stunning views, and is easily reachable by bus from Takayama. Would recommend if you want a quiet, mountain retreat!
Note: this onsen is cash only! There’s an ATM a few minutes away but you have to take the bus, so arrive with...
