I had to rate the experience as poor as I was at this place during the Golden Weekend in May. This entire place is a village concept. Besides the cottage itself, there is a campsite which is popular with the locals. It was very very crowded during the long weekend holiday. Everyone jostled for the onsen. The public onsen was more crowded then the local swimming pool. Thankfully we were able to book a 'family onsen' or a private onsen for 1600 yen for 50 min of use. The onsen opens at 6am, we were there at 6.15am and already it was packed. Mostly with campers who are so use the onsen facilities as something they pay for. |The room/ cottage itself is large. With bathroom and a nice heater for the colder months. TV channels are strictly Japanese. But with the good wifi provided, Netflix streaming is not lagged. A very cute set of pullover, pants and outdoor jacket is provided in the cottage. |The breakfast starts at 7am. I thought it would be ideal start if we were at the restaurant at 7.08am. Very wrong. The restaurant was already packed. And we were stuck in a queue for a seat for at least 30min. Note to all travelers, please arrive super early for breakfast if you have plans for rest of the day. There was nothing to fault about the service. There was just. It enough capacity to fit a full house. Just beware of this if you do consider coming during super...
Read moreThe staff was absolutely incredible with service and smiles! The location is scenic, peaceful and within distance of Kurokawa Onsen (a great alternative if all the onset hotels are booked). I recommend getting the meals included package because the food was tasty and plentiful. The onsen overlooks a nice backdrop (mountains and valleys) too and isn't too crowded if you get there before 0800 in the morning (can't speak on the rest of the day). Furthermore, especially if your traveling in two or threes there will be plenty (almost too much) space and OMG don't let me forget the table that has a feet warmer underneath it! The rooms were clean and the beds were traditional japanese but still comfortable. A double thumbs up and high fives all around! I recommend you stay at this place. Those who work there have pride in what they do and know how to deliver a...
Read moreI personally made a reservation through their official Japanese website in English(with Google translation), but the process was very fast and satisfying.||It IS far, hard to reach and the room is not great but I still feel I was lucky to be there at least once in my life. The view, the atmosphere was dreamy! I tried BBQ instead of normal Kaiseki dinner and I think it's a really nice choice.||||The open spring, there were lots of bugs so I was scared, but the feeling there was priceless. I was not good at Japanese but there Japanese grandmas were so kind and they look really happy.||||I think it's a gem to native japanese old people and I felt I should respect it. They deserve the lovely view and atmosphere.||||If you don't like old wood house and bugs and quiet or boring place, it will never be good. But those who love nature must...
