We stayed at this hotel as a base for cycling around Izu Oshima.We appreciated your consideration of where to leave our bicycles and luggage.
The building is certainly old, but the rooms were well cleaned and comfortable.We didn't encounter any of the bugs that many people have talked about, but we didn't see any big ones, probably because we were on the second floor.
The food was very good.The plan included dinner and breakfast for 1,700 yen, but the variety of food was so good that it was worth it just for dinner.The food was very tasty, and the use of ingredients typical of Oshima was satisfying.
There was a car from a famous kickboxing gym in Tokyo in the hotel parking lot, so I asked the owner if they were running a training camp.I asked around and found out that the gym is recently owned by a former K-1 fighter.They are also planning to renovate the hotel pool and build a gym on the premises.

Read moreWe stayed here during the camellia festival in the middle of February. The staff did not speak English, but tried to be helpful and kindly arranged free transfer to the port for us. The hotel seems geared towards summer/diving, and is not luxurious or modern. But the room was clean and quiet (albeit a little fusty on arrival) and the heating worked. The dinner was generous, and seemed to be at a fixed time of 6 (which worked for us as there is little to do on the island at night and it permitted us to sleep and rise earlier).
