I booked Masahiro on a whim. I had never been to any of the Izu Islands and had a weekend over in Tokyo. What a gift. The hotel is nestled in a wooded overlook perfect for sunsets. The breakfasts and dinner were down to earth home meets kaiseki. I new dinner was special when it started with chestnut liqueur. The icing on the cake was the hot bath from which I could retreat to my “maisonette”... the hot bath need after the day hiking around Mt. Mihara. The staff was welcoming and helped me with my plans to do the hike. Only 1:45 min from Tokyo, I recommend shins and this hotel to any Tokyo weekenders who have done the usual. I was solo, but I think this is a good spot for families as the maisonettes have ample space and a cooktop within. I hope my whim review helps others find this spot in Oshima. The food and service were both exceptionally good. The chef is very creative. This is a lovely place to stay and the people are really lovely. We did not want to leave! ||This hotel is close to the Motomachi port, about 10 minutes drive away. However it is not in the center of the small port town. It is in a forested area and very quiet and peaceful. If you are a little scared about driving on narrow roads (there is a small road leading to the hotel entrance) then you can get a taxi from the port and it will drop you off. Please check what port the ferry company will be using on the day of your sailing. There are 2 ports; Motomachi and Okata; but they are...
