Mercure Toyama Tonami Resort & Spa — Hotel in Tonami

Honestly, I don't know where to start. I'm completely touched by my experience at this hotel. First, the rooms are clean, big, surrounded by nature, greenery, and a beautiful lake that you can observe for a perfect morning scenery. Secondly, the facilities are top notch! Everything is clean! All facilities are provided to you with great quality; clean floors, perfect white clean towels, the hot spring water is clean, the pools are clean, the shampoo and body wash liquids smell amazing! (Like the baby colon your mother would give you as a child with the blue rounded top!) AMAZING! However, I had a very special interaction with one of the staff who deserves a medal for being so responsible and ensuring that her guest was in good hands. Unfortunately, I got sick one morning while I was checking out. I was having an anxiety / panic attack that made me really disoriented. I didn't feel safe driving afterwards and I requested for the ambulance to be called. The kind and beautiful lady at the front desk handled all my paperwork, and ensured clear communication between doctors and nurses. After getting a physical check at the hospital for 2 hours, the results came back fine. There was no problem at all, however, the lady from the hotel staff was still there to see me out and ensure that I was safe and ok to drive. She was amazing! Thank you a million times for providing a fantastic place to stay, but also for taking great care of me! ( I don't have any pictures of the hotel because pictures aren't allowed to be taken within the hot springs, but trust me when I say, everything looks just as it is in the pictures. ) I hope you enjoy it as...

this hotel was practically in the middle of nowhere so it was hard to find food places near here. They did provide a dinner buffet, but it was about 6 to 8K yen per person so we opted on eating outside. Parking was pretty simple, unsure if you can come here via train or bus since we came in my car. The service was pretty good. They were helpful even with the lack of communication since our Japanese is not strong they were still helpful. They did have an onsen but during this stay it seemed like there was a bus tour, so the onsen was pretty busy. I would’ve rated this hotel higher however the AC did not seem to work. I am not sure if this is a common thing with this type of hotel Since we did stay at another Mercure hotel in a different area of Japan with the same issue, but it is a ridiculous that we would need to sleep in a hot room. The AC control is just a dial and I don’t think there is AC provided in each room. I did not ask to see if they had a portable fan available but if you do decide to go here, you can probably ask them. The room that we rented was pretty spacious with the tatami floors and a big room, however the bathroom is quite small, but I think it’s just the standard type of design for Japanese bathroom. They do provide a little water fountain in the hallway, so you’re able to fill up your bottle if need be, and they do have a fridge in the room .
