Summary: happy daytime visit -- clean, friendly, old-fashioned, timeless atmosphere, good!||||Details: great onsen relaxation after a couple of hours of early-spring snowshoeing at nearby Kasamatsu Pass. In addition to the normal wash-up area (soap and shampoo provided), there are two wooden pools: one is hotter (milky, cloudy water and sulphurous aroma); and the other is cooler (clear water). The onsen's overall rustic atmosphere is wonderful. It is old-fashioned but timeless! This is old, typical Japanese inn. There is no toilet and bathroom in guest room. However, it gives me a good experience of staying in old style inn. The wooden building makes noises when people are walking around. It may annoy any of you. WIFI is available but mobile phone is out of coverage. Onsen is good but not luxury. It smells of sulfur mixed with cedar wood from the building. Food was just ok. Coffee is extra cost during breakfast. Staffs are friendly and attentive, although their English is limited.
