We stayed in the loghouse room for a night. The balcony and bathroom had a great view of Lake Toya! Room was extremely spacious for two, there were two big single beds and even one in the loft, which we didnt use. Bathroom had all ameneties and a huge bathtub and window for the view. ||Food was wonderful! We booked a plan that includes dinner and breakfast but did not expect a 8-9 course meal for dinner. He also explained the ingredients of each dish to us (didnt remember most of them but alot were made from the local Hokkaido products). We had a choice for breakfast- japanese or western style, took the western style which was a simple egg, bacon, sausage, vegetables, gratin platter, nothing too fancy but very delicious. Also came with Hokkaido melon. ||Service was also good, efficient and we were shown to the loghouse with no issues. WIFI worked well. ||||Location- just a 5 minutes drive away from Toya onsen for the fireworks. ||||We went in summer but i am sure this place will have another charm of its...
Read moreThe onsen town at the south end of Toya Lake has the usual collection of big, bigger, and older onsen resort hotels, all with a nice view across the lake and Mt Yotei in the background. We wanted and found something different in Kitsutsuki Canadian Club, a small inn with well maintained log buildings on the western quiet side of this very scenic area. Though one of the websites we looked at indicated the room was on the small side, it was actually quite standard size and included twin beds and separate shower/big tub. Both the tub and the bedroom had views of Lake Toya. Compliments for dinner and breakfast which we found very good; some purely Japanese, others a western-Japanese fusion. That’s what the owner seems to be going for, with interesting art and other cultural decor in the main building/dining room. A Canadian log cabin eliciting an international vibe in a most scenic...
Read moreWe opted for the half-board stay at the Canadian Club Kitutuki in Hokkaido, Japan. The owner personally prepared all the meals, which were the best we’ve had on this trip. The bathtub was the largest we’ve encountered in all the hotels we’ve stayed at in Hokkaido. The rooms and the bathtub area offer views of Lake Toya, which are simply breathtaking. The experience reminded us of homestays in Taiwan. The log cabin gave us a festive, Christmas-like feel. It was incredibly beautiful and romantic. This was our first time staying in a log house, and the experience was beyond fantastic. The only downside is that it’s a bit far from the town, so you’ll need a car to get there. Other than this minor issue, our stay felt like something out of...
