Nestled by the pristine Lake Toya, Hotel Premium Lake Toya lives up to its prestigious namesake. My husband and I embarked on a honeymoon extravaganza, splurging on this opulent retreat despite it being 2-3x our budget. What ensued was a romantic odyssey beyond compare.
This sanctuary was so exclusive it eluded major online travel agencies. We booked our adventure through the hotel's website, navigating with the aid of Google Translate. Booking became an exciting prelude to the luxury that awaited.
While the hotel mainly caters to locals, our reservation prompted a warm welcome, complete with a Chinese-speaking staff member to ease our check-in. It was a gracious gesture after a week of communication challenges elsewhere in Japan.
Upon arrival, fresh slippers were a symbol of the hotel's meticulous cleanliness standards, shoes discreetly stored as we embraced a shoe-free sanctuary.
Check-in unveiled a charming ritual: baskets laden with childhood Japanese snacks, a delightful nod to the culture.
Every detail was thoughtfully considered - different slippers for each hotel area, butler-style staff, and a reception with a mesmerizing Lake Toya view.
The pièce de résistance was the private onsen cypress bath. It transcended earthly realms, offering an experience akin to heaven itself. The onsen's therapeutic waters possessed remarkable healing properties, a boon for those with acne-prone skin. As we luxuriated in the cypress bath, the premium herbal soap, imbued with the strong scent of lavender, heightened the sensation of indulgence.
Our accommodation, a haven of spaciousness and elegance, featured a sumptuous sofa, an invitation to languid relaxation. High-quality pillows and luxuriously soft bedding ensured our nightly repose was nothing short of divine.
For moments of respite beyond our room, the public onsen area beckoned with a massage chair, a sanctuary for weary souls seeking solace.
Hotel Premium Lake Toya's limited capacity ensured an atmosphere of total privacy, serenity, and tranquility, a rare gift in the bustling world of hospitality.
In addition, the lounge area, overlooking the resplendent Lake Toya, offered an ideal haven for bookworms and leisure enthusiasts alike. Complete with a pool table and classic childhood arcade games, it was a playground for relaxation and entertainment.
Culinary indulgence was a hallmark of our stay, as every morning and evening brought sumptuous breakfast and multi-course dinners, rivaling the finest dining establishments. Each meal was an artful composition, meticulously curated, and every dish an exquisite masterpiece. The impeccable plating was matched only by the extraordinary flavors that graced our palates.
A word of advice to fellow travelers: it's advisable to skip lunch if you intend to fully savor the culinary delights of dinner. The portions and flavors are so captivating that satiety may arrive earlier than expected.
In conclusion, Hotel Premium Lake Toya transcends expectations, a destination where splurging on the extraordinary becomes an investment in treasured memories. From the moment we set foot within its hallowed halls to our reluctant departure, it was an experience that radiated luxury, exclusivity, and the timeless charm of Japanese hospitality. For us, it wasn't merely a hotel; it was a sanctuary of dreams fulfilled, and a honeymoon that remains etched in our...
Read moreThe view is the only good thing about this hotel and that is about it… We were greeted by a very passive aggressive staff who demanded us to sit when we were admiring the view ?? We felt discriminated by the staff as she seemed to be very nice to other Japanese guests, not with us foreigners. Seems like she doesn’t know how to smile until she talks to other Japanese guests.
For the room, the design is very impractical, our room was the biggest bedroom which somehow is located on the 2nd floor WITH NO ELEVATORS, we had to carry all 4 big luggages up the stairs, traveling with 2 elderlies this is very inconsiderate. No staffs even offered to help us carry the luggages. Not to mention the room is rather very dusty and full of stink bugs.
The food was very…confusing? Very bland, overpriced, and disappointing.
Most importantly they refuse to assist us in sending back belonging that we forgot. They stopped replying midway when told we were leaving japan, and wanted it to be shipped back to our country. How can this kind of service be rated so high google? Atleast we would appreciate a response on whether they could send back, not an absence of response.
This is the worst stay through out...

The shuttle service was very convenient, and the hotel even helped coordinate it around my schedule with care and thoughtfulness. I felt supported and relaxed the entire time.
One of the absolute highlights was the private onsen—it was warm, clean, and opened up to the most breathtaking view of Lake Toya. Soaking in that serene setting was deeply healing and peaceful.
