Imamura Ryokan — Hotel in Yamaga

We were working in the area and stumbled upon this spa resort well off the beaten track. We stayed in the largest room they have available which comfortably accommodates two adults. It is a traditional Japanese room with grass mat floors and paper walls. The bonus of having this room is it has its own private hot stone bath. The bath is situated with two glass walls that create a super relaxing scene. We also had several meals catered by our hosts. The meals were very traditional Japanese which may be a little off putting for Americans! The accommodation is not fancy but I give it four stars because of the private. The room was clean and the spot is surrounded by beautiful green forests. The hosts also sell lots of different local foods and even toys. We booked a room here to have a calm and relaxing day with a private Onsen and I must say, it is lovely! The room smells like wood, the hot spring water feels wonderfully soft and is very soothing on your skin. The room in general ist pretty big and doesn’t have much furniture, but that’s extremely calming for your mind. The location is quite and relaxing too, but you have to rely on a car.
