Shokinkan — Hotel in Yasugi

This is a wonderful place to stay while visiting the temples and museums in this area. The vegetarian food offered here is at a very high standard and is plentiful and delicious, and the rooms are spacious. The family that owns Shokinkan cares about what they do, and that is reflected in the wonderful baths, the good condition that everything is in, and the excellent WiFi. What was truly outstanding was the Dinner. Every bite was different and full of flavour so that I could just not stop eating. The taste of the food is in no way behind any Michelin star restaurant I visited.

2023年3月末に投宿。 安来市の山中にある名刹、清水寺そばにある旅館。 宿坊かと思いきや、料理旅館と銘打っているようだ。

事前予約時にお願いすれば、安来駅から送迎してもらえる。 (バスだと何かと不便なので推奨しない)

老舗旅館と謂われているだけあって、歴史を感じさせる木造建築である。通された和室もどこか風格が漂っている。ただし洗面所のみでトイレは無かった。鍵の建付けがよろしくないのはご愛敬ｗ

チェックインの際に抹茶とお茶請けの名物清水羊羹をいただいた。

部屋の外にあるトイレや洗面所と言った水回りは今風にリフォームされており、不満は無い。 風呂はどこか広めで良くも悪くも特徴は無いといった感じ。

夕食は部屋食となり、寺院のお膝元だけあって精進料理が振舞われる。 この料理が大変趣深く、肉食が全く使われていない。 イカもどきやウナギもどきといった創作料理が本物のそれらと遜色の無い味なのだ。 その他山菜を使った総菜や天ぷら、出雲そばも大変味わい深かった。 さすがは料理旅館である。 地酒は吉田酒造の「月山」だった。

山間の寺院のお膝元だけあって周りは静かで夜も落ち着いて寝ることができた。

朝食は別の部屋でいただいた。 栄養バランスを考えた和食で焼き魚もあり、こちらも大変美味しくいただいた。

この時期なら本来は満開の桜が拝めるのだが、気候との巡り合わせが悪く、五分咲きであった。 満開の桜や紅葉がさぞかし美しいだろう。

清水寺はもちろんのこと、足立美術館や月山富田城といった安来観光を考えているのなら、コストパフォーマンスもいいし、この宿はオススメである。 桜や紅葉の時期ならなおの事。

ちなみにこの日は広瀬の月山富田城へ向かう旨を話したら、ご親切にもそこまで送迎してくださった。
