First to talk a bit about myself, I had visited Japan for 6 times. I have ryokan experiences in Kyushu Yufuin, Beppu and Tohoku Hakone-- I can say that I have a high standard for ryokans.||||However, out of all my ryokan experiences in Japan, Bokoro Ryokan easily comes to the best ryokan I ever stayed.||||One word "Exceptional" can describe this ryokan. Everything about the unique Japanese culture can be expereinced at the same time feeling highly welcomed by the kind staff members.||||Service... I mean it can't get any better than this. The staffs there couldn't speak English too well but there was zero problem in communicating. The manager spoke English really well and have helped us in so many ways in such sincere kindness. For example, he have walked all the way to show us where the hot spring is and how to get there. I could understand what people mean by the unique Japanese hospital from the Bokoro ryokan experience.||||Food... kaiseki (Japanese course menu) was amazing. In some ryokans I stayed, there were always some items from the kaiseki that wasn't really good because they were too salty or bitter. However, here in Bokoro ryokan, everything tasted so good. Breakfast was a buffet in a traditional Japanese room which was just fantastic as it had old traditional Japanese atmosphere rather than those of modern looks. Breakfast wasn't as good as dinner but still had many selections and healthy options.||||Onsen... water temperature for me was just perfect. The view was just speechless -- defintely one of the things that I would never forget. Looking at the lake from the onsen is priceless. At night, you can see the headlights of the cars driving away at a far distance. If you look up, you can see the stars. The foot bath they have at the rooftop of the onsen building has even a better view. For ladies, they provided roses in the onsen as a special event. ||||Room... Clean, super spacious, comfy, and unique Japanese atmosphere. Because the ryokan has a long history, the room has a great old Japanese feel. Tatami felt very new and clean as it must have been renovated before. There were plenty of electrical outlet despite the fact that this ryokan has some age. Bathroom was very spacious and had a tub itself too. Wifi was very fast and smooth.||||When we arrived the hotel, we were warmly greeted by the staffs immediately. They have placed the foot stool for us to step onto when we are getting off, as if we were important people. They handled all the heavy baggage for us all the way to our room. The staffs always smiled and was genuinley interested in helping us feel welcomed. On our leave, all the staffs came out and waved their hands until we were out of their sight.||||We were given thorough instructions in English, everything about our dinner, onsen, and all. They gave us a welcome tea + cookies. In our mini fridge, there were two free puddings.||||I can't forget the smiles and hospitality the staffs have provided to us during our stay. It was something I have never experienced in my life.||||I think this ryokan itself has value for me to have a reason to go back to Kurayoshi. I am definitely going back again. I would recommend this ryokan to everyone. Highly recommended! ||||Tip 1: Free shuttle is available at the Kurayoshi station||Tip 2: Free rental for Japanese wooden shoe + umbrella||Tip 3: Massage is available at...

Read more|We stayed at Bokoro for one night during our recent visit in Tottori. It is a beautiful, well maintained establishment by Lake Togo. The signature open-air onsen is built over the lake, connected to the main building by a winding red bridge. There are also indoor onsens in the main building. We reserved Japanese-style corner room via the hotel's official website. We were blown away upon entering our room. It was extremely spacious and tastefully decorated. Two sides of the room had full length window overlooking the lake and the onsen. The dinner served in our room was fabulous. Love every dish, seafood sashimi, crab, grilled Wagyu beef.....The breakfast buffet in the dining room offered wide variety. The food quality was high. We enjoyed the open-air onsen with non-obstructive lake view. Unfortunately it was raining. We could imagine the gorgeous sunset view on a sunny day. Our hostess was super friendly throughout our stay, from escorting to our room and served tea after check-in, served dinner and bid farewell. We will certainly stay here should we visit...
