I have taken dozens of people down to Wadi Rum, but I will never come to this place again. It wants to be an expensive 'luxury bubble camp' type of place but falls short. The biggest problem is the sense of disorganization that you feel shortly after arrival, which quickly divolves into feeling that nobody cares about making your experience a good one. It all doesn't jibe with how much money you will end up paying.
We thought we booked bubble rooms on the website but apparently it wasn't the case and had to pay for an upgrade. Later we found we weren't the only ones who didn't know what was happening; apparently these guys have multiple camps and other guests told us they were schlepped from camp to camp without knowing why, like someone was making the decision on where to place them on the fly after they got there.
But the bigger problem is the location. Tiny humble camps in Wadi Rum nestle themselves in the middle of the majestic rocks with amazing views that can be had from almost everywhere you look. This place does not want to be tiny nor humble and it's situated on a strange flat plane like a parking lot that almost deprives you of the Wadi Rum experience. They straight out bungled the interaction between the indoor spaces and the majesty of Wadi Rum outside; evevrything from the food to hanging out around a fire drinking tea is done indoors. (On a positive note, the food itself was pretty good).
Save your money and go to a much cheaper camp and you will have a much better time. If you must have a luxury bubble camp experience then book somewhere else; you are bound to be disappointed here if only because they get so many of the small details wrong that you expect when paying a premium (for example, who thought it a good idea to have kitchy heavy wooden furniture in futuristic sci...
Read moreI had an incredible experience at Jabal Rum Camp during my recent trip to Wadi Rum. This family-run camp offers a unique blend of traditional Bedouin hospitality and modern comfort. Here are some highlights:
Warm Welcome: Jamal, the owner, greeted us with open arms. His positive energy and genuine hospitality made us feel right at home.
Stunning Location: Nestled among the red sand dunes of Wadi Rum, the camp provides breathtaking views of the desert landscape. You’ll wake up to the sight of majestic mountains and endless horizons.
Comfortable Accommodations: The traditional Bedouin tents are cozy and well-maintained. We stayed in a deluxe double room with mountain views – the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploration.
Delicious Food: The camp’s restaurant serves mouthwatering local specialties. Don’t miss the buffet and Asian breakfast options – they’re a delightful way to start your day.
Activities Galore: Jamal organizes camel and jeep tours to explore the seven columns of Wadi Rum. Whether you’re into stargazing, hiking, or simply soaking in the desert vibes, there’s something for everyone.
Overall, Jabal Rum Camp is a gem in the heart of Wadi Rum. Dr...
Read moreHORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Besides the fact that we were promised a guide that spoke English and our guy couldn’t even speak a word, besides the fact that we were supposed to have internet but it didn’t work. I don’t even want to talk about the dirty rooms. Worst part was when two girls from DE start talking to me and I was threatened by the owner of the camp! He said if I had spoken with them again he would have taken my stuff and kicked me out of the camp!! They think if they are the only one who can speak with girls they have “higher chances” to get something out of it. It was disgusting behavior and ruined my vacation to Jordan and the one of the girls as well. These people shouldn’t be allowed to have their own camp!! Awful...
