Our stay at Wild Oryx was the best experience we had during our stay in Jordan. The location is AMAZING, the best in Wadi Rum as there is no light pollution at all, unlike most other camps. It is much more isolated and you really feel you're in a remote, secluded corner of the desert. We were shocked to see camps along the highway when we were driving into the town where we left our car at the host's secure car park. There are lots of big camps and many grouped together in other parts of the desert. Wild Oryx is a very small camp with only 4 bubbles and we were treated as friends and not customers. Eid, our host kept in contact with us by Whatsapp and made our arrival really easy. He took us into his home and informed us of all the activity options that were available, advising us on how we could get the most out of our stay, but without being pushy in the least. We decided on a full day tour on our second day and a camel ride across the desert on our way back to town on our last day. Both excursions were very good quality for money. We were absolutely blown away when we arrived at the camp and saw how beautiful the area was. The bubble was very comfortable and spacious. The view from our bubble was breathtaking. From our very comfy king size bed we watched the sunrise over the desert and at night the stars seemed so close you could almost touch them. The shower was strong with hot water and the heating/air-con heated the bubble in no time when it started to get cold at night. The food was all home-made and delicious. We stayed 2 nights and had two amazing meals cooked by Sayed, who, apart from being a great cook, was also very attentive, making sure everything was to our liking. Motaz, Eid's nephew accompanied us the first night as we sat around the fire drinking tea and he told us about his life as a student at university and as a guide in Wadi Rum. He's a lovely guy and very funny. We did a full day tour with Eid who was a brilliant guide. He knows the desert like the palm of his hand and took us to some awesome locations. We hardly saw a soul all day and felt we had the desert all to ourselves. Eid is very funny and we laughed and joked all day with him. Our last night was very special as he had a surprise dinner prepared for us and we shared it with himself, Motaz, Sayed and another family member. Afterwards we sat around the fire chatting with our new friends and listening to music. It was a very special evening. We were the only guests at Wild Oryx at the time as everywhere in Jordan was very quiet in March. I was a little concerned at first when we were told that we would be the only guests, as I thought that perhaps our host wouldn't be as attentive as he'd be if all the bubbles were occupied, but that simply wasn't the case. Eid couldn't have been more caring. If you are looking for a unique desert experience while enjoying comfort, Wild Oryx Bubble Camp is...
Read moreThe host of W CAMP in Wadi Rum, Mr Eid, is the most genuine, open, honest and educated Bedouin person I have ever met in my life as I am a frequent traveller myself and have visited Jordan multiple times and around the world.
The host met and greeted us well, and explained everything in detail with realistic options and reasonable prices. He took us to all the most iconic places to visit in Wadi Rum during our tour and he also created lots of customised fun activities for children and adults during our trip, as he is an experienced tour guide for more than two decades, who grew up in the Wadi Rum desert.
Furthermore, Mr. Eid (the host) was very pleasant, has good interpersonal skills, and was very influential & open-minded as a person. He can speak very fluent English with excellent vocabulary and knows some French as well. As for money, Mr. Eid did not overcharge us at all, was very reasonable in his prices, and was an exceptional and trustworthy person, despite many locals who increase prices in Jordan trying to mislead tourists to pay more and us in turn having to haggle with them to bring the price down. We found ourselves safe when we were in his hands in the middle of the desert. He also sent all our schedules and plans regarding our trip for the day in writing via WhatsApp messages and ensured that they are all met before we end our journey. Also, this camp offers a full jeep tour according to your needs and the vehicle is owned by the host himself, which is most convenient and safe.
I would also highly recommend him for women solo travellers, who are looking for their safety and security while travelling. In addition, I would also recommend this camp for couples who want to have their honeymoon with private and luxury facilities. The reason why I am recommending this camp is because it is an amazing value for money, located deep inside the desert and in an exceptionally scenic area of Wadi Rum.
The food he prepared was according our needs and dietary requirements, it was simple and delicious Bedouin food. Another reason why we enjoyed it was because the food was prepared in front of us with fresh local ingredients.
The facilities of the W CAMP were exceptionally clean, comfortable, convenient and luxurious, with all the rooms having internet and Wi-Fi facilities, private toilet and bathroom, comfy beds and an enthralling panoramic view from the room, which when staying there, felt like I was in another planet. There is a communal kitchen, toilet & bath, fire place and a public lounge area.
I hope this review would help other travellers who wants to visit Wadi Rum...
Read moreWhere do I start, from the moment we met Eid (the owner) our time at his camp was perfection! We stayed two nights. We came in later in the day, he picked us up and greeted us himself, which we were impressed with and he first took us to the local grocer to get some snacks drinks which we greatly appreciated after our long journey from the Dead Sea. We then drove from the town to the camp, we really liked the location as Eid’s camp it is more private/exclusive being that there are four luxury tents, so there is zero light pollution from nearby larger camps- so the star gazing was amazing, we had so much fun the first night taking photos of the stars. We arrived after Eid took us to see our first beautiful Wadi Rum sunset right as other guests arrived back from their day activities. Then the dinner, there was so much amazing and delicious food!! The chef is wonderful. We started with tea outside and then sat for dinner, was a great experience getting to taste local flavors and try their version of other international dishes, one night they had spaghetti which they cook for an hour and we generally cook for 8 min ha, have to say theirs was 10/10! Our room was large, even had an upholstered twin bed on the side which we did not use, the view at night and the sunrise was amazing, just go to sleep with your curtains open you will see. We had booked a jeep and camel ride with our travel agent, but the logistics and timing did not make sense to make the most of our time in the desert. Even though it was the night before Eid accommodated us to do a 6 hour private Jeep tour and a private camel tour the next day which allowed us to make the most of our time. Motaz, Eid’s nephew did our private jeep tour and it was one of our favorite things we did on our entire trip in Jordan, it is honestly indescribable, like nothing we had ever seen or done before. A highlight of all my trips over the years not to be forgotten. We were the only guests the second evening and still an amazing spread of delicious food. We had an early flight out of the Aqaba airport so we needed to leave at 4:30 and again Eid and Motaz made it happen, we left giving hugs such an all around...
