What a beautiful place. |We were met on arrival and checked in, then accompanied to our chalets, (we had two). The view from the front of the chalets were breathtaking. A real haven of peace and quiet. It was the start of Eid and there were a few other families there so dinner was buffet style with good choices. Lovely hearty home made food, chicken, minted meatballs which were delicious, hummus, salads, baba ganoush (my favourite!) and fresh bread. Breakfast was buffet style too and great choice including omelettes although it may be different on other days. |There is a free bottle of water in the room and a little label telling you about the water fountain in the dining room where you can top up free. |We walked down to the shore and spent some fun time floating in the Dead Sea. Beware. If you have any cuts as it does sting due to the high mineral content of the waters. And beware your entry and exit as you can scratch yourself in the very sharp salt formations which later become itchy!! Beach shoes are a must here, don’t travel without them. The sensation of floating and being unable to sink made for lots of laughs and photos! We even found little holes in the ground and stones around the shower area with Dead Sea mud and covered ourselves in the health giving minerals. |We went into the water close to dusk and the sunset created a beautiful backdrop. What a dream. |The bedrooms were spacious, very comfortable with an air con unit. The bathroom had a great shower with hot water and a revealing full length glass panel for the voyeurs among us!! But there is a curtain you can close for privacy if you’re shy! |This was a fantastic place to stay and although a bit higher priced than some others, well worth it as it does not feel commercial and touristy in the slightest. |I’d return again for sure. |I had a great conversation with the head man (I’m so sorry I can’t remember your name). We chatted about the area, the situation in the region, very interesting.|There is also a small Nature Shop inside selling Dead Sea mud and soaps etc. |Sadly the nearby Wadi nature walks were not yet open for the season… so I’ll need to go back for that! |The lights twinkle across the water at night and up to your right is the West Bank of Palestine. Directly across the water behind Israel in Gaza. I directed a quiet prayer for peace and an end to suffering across the waters. |It’s a very special and unique place on the planet and the waters are receding. |Don’t hesitate. Book it and enjoy! |Thank you Chalet Mujib for a...
Read moreI only left Mujib Chalets this morning and am already writing a review as I don’t want others to miss out on this gem! These chalets are a fantastic option for those wanting to experience the peace and beauty of time at the Dead Sea while avoiding the resort setting and supporting the work of the RSCN. The setting is even more stunning than it looks in pictures, with the chalets hanging on cliffs right above the Dead Sea, affording uninterrupted views of the water. The chalets are designed in a way that allows for total privacy despite there being a cluster of them quite close together. The rooms are relatively basic but modern, well maintained and very clean with everything you could need (no TV necessary but there was a fridge, shelves, good lighting options and a comfy bed). My shower was a bit cold, but this was refreshing after a day of floating in the balmy sea. The complex was very quiet at night, creating the ultimate relaxing atmosphere for deep rest. The landscaping and design was all quite fresh. The food was okay, but maybe not what you would look for if you wanted food to be at the centre of your Dead Sea experience. I stayed right before the Siq trail opens for the season so unfortunately didn’t get to experience the hiking (which looked incredible) but had the most relaxing day lounging in the sun, floating in the sea and admiring the breathtaking scenery. I felt warmly welcomed from arrival and truly looked after all the way through my final hours at the chalets, when staff showed me how to apply the Dead Sea mud for maximum effect. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe and looked after here. I hope to see more people choose to stay at Mujib Chalets and to have more opportunities to travel like this myself ! Big thank you...
Read moreThe exterior of this place looks very nice and the views are unbeatable. There is direct Dead Sea access and all the rooms overlook it - it’s stunning.
However, the interior of the rooms are very run down (paint peeling off walls, stains etc. ), which is tolerable when the exterior is as stunning as it is. Where it completely falls apart is the lack of hospitality and the flies. The hosts seemed like we were interrupting their nap, and there wasn’t any friendliness or warmth upon arrival. We asked a few questions about where to get water bottles etc and they just came across really annoyed with basic things like that. There are also really bad flies both at the chalet and the common area without any solution or support given by reception. We couldn’t sit outside at all - they would swarm us everywhere. Had we known we have brought bug spray ourselves but it is very much an issue that the hosts were aware of, and should be prepared to help guests with. The hosts pretty much seem to sit inside to avoid the flies, except we picked this place to be outside overlooking the Dead Sea.
The pros are that this place is calm and tranquil, but the cons are the flies and overall unfriendliness from the hosts prevents you from being able to enjoy that tranquility. We checked out within two hours of arrival and did not end up staying the night, but still paid for the room, which is very overpriced for what you’re getting. The standard here is hostel with an epic view.
The idea of this place is great, but the execution...
