We thought we had carefully planned our 24 hours at Kudu Camp being picked up in Voi and dropped off in Gede afterwards. The stay was highly overpriced and poorly managed. We were promised an itinerary for our transit and game drives that proved completely unrealistic. We spent 4,5 hours speeding at 80-90 km/h through Tsavo East to the camp, killing birds and scaring antelopes on the way with only rushed viewings of the animals. When we arrived to the camp they picked birds from the front grill of the car, that’s how fast we went! It was terrible and in clear violation of the 40km/h speed limit in the national park. We reached the camp after sunset, exhausted and traumatised. They offered no apology or any remedy for our next game drives the following morning. Management of Kudu sits in Malindi is awful, refusing to answer calls or help. We finally arranged our own game drive with the help of the Masai at the camp (who felt clearly ashamed of the way we were being treated). We asked for a partial refund or compensation the next day but Malindi office simply refused. They said eventually hijacked our jeep and driver for hours, delaying our trip to Watamu, when we refused, on top of all problems, to pay the exorbitant drinks tab of 100$. I am glad my family got out alive. Never ever to set foot there again. Please thibk twice before considering Kudu...
Read moreThe camp is a fusion of luxury and camp basics. You have a concrete based, thatch covered canvas tent with beautiful polished concrete shower, mirrored sink area and toilet. Lighting and electrical outlets galore in a single living sleeping space.||||We visited when the Tsavo was hitting 38 degrees that's when the fan above the bed felt like a luxury. Not aircon cool but enough to sleep.||||Remember, you are out in the national park. Refrigeration and regular supplies must be hard to manage, that's why I imagine there is no set food menu. I spoke to Ryan about the concept of a kitchen garden but the elephants would be destroy it. ||||We found the vegetables and grilled meats excellent.||||Staff are super polite and happy to match your safari schedule with timings for food etc.||||The pool area is excellent. The pool overlooking the river is a great spot for a Tusker.||||The Tsavo game drives were excellent and the drive was a great balance of getting to see the animals and being respectful of...
Read moreKindly check with the camp before going if there is ongoing construction on site. We visited the camp and we're shocked with construction noise. Also the food variety is very poor. They are not stocked with ingredients. Even making a pizza is impossible for them. When asked about cheese, one of the staff in the offices Maryanne said that as we are situated in a conservancy we are not allowed to keep cheese?!! Not sure where the staff get this information from. Very poor management and the management team do not want to hear your complaints. Not worth the price you will pay so i would stay away and not bother going back. Their neighbours camp doa doa is much cheaper (almost by half) and provide better food...
