+++ Gute Erfahrungen - Nice experiences +++||Bewertung zu Lago Resort||Bewertet vor 2 Tagen||Mit Google übersetzen||||The owners of this ressort are very committed. One of the sons was on a student exchange at Saarbrücken University (Germany). All members of the family are interested in both the fauna and flora of their homeland, Kenya. The guest house is located in a botanical garden, which Daniel, the family man, takes care of in particular. However, Daniel has not only very extensive botanical knowledge, but also detailed knowledge of the history of missionary work in East Africa by German missionaries (e.g. Dr. Johannes Krapf and Johannes Rebmann, both from Tübingen). As a result, a stay at the “Lago Ressort” is enriching in many ways. By the way: Daniel chose the name "Lago" because he worked as an engineer with Italian companies in water engineering - and from the "Lago Ressort" you have a very nice view of Lake Victoria from above - surrounded by fresh winds, beautiful plants, a number of cats and many different chickens.||We were shown different rooms and found all of them clean, all bathrooms with hot water showers, all rooms with balconies. From our spacious room we had a wonderful view of Lake Victoria and the botanical garden.||There are several metal tables and chairs painted green in the garden. There is hardly any plastic to be found in the whole “Lago Ressort”. Instead, a lot of local wood, often e.g. rosewood, especially in the large, light-flooded and airy hall, which is located in the lower third of the ressort. Below this building, where breakfast and other meals, fruits, tea and cold drinks are served, there are sanitary rooms and the laundry room.||The owners are also operators of two farms in which, for example, no artificial fertilizers are used (organic farming). One of them is near the last Kenyan protected rainforest. If you want, one of the members of the family can take you on a trip to one of the farms, the rainforest, tea plantations and waterfalls in the area. Excursions to various parts of Victoria Lake are also offered. Excursions are even possible to the large "Owen Waterfalls" of Lake Victoria, but these must be combined with an overnight stay and requires a day visa for Uganda. The "Owen Waterfalls" (near Jinja) were the source of energy for all of East Africa. Today they supply Uganda with inexpensive electricity. ||In the "Lago Ressort" you can get meals on request - according to your own ideas.||Conclusion: More service is (almost) impossible. Highly...
Read moreThe best/cheapest way to get the hotel, unless you wanna pay a fortune because no taxi driver will get you there for a normal price( they always take you all the way around, because it's the only fully extended way, using extremely rocky road breaking their vehicle - that's why they charge multiple times more): Take a cab/🏍️/🛺 to UZIMA University (BELOW the property NOT ABOVE) ASK him to take you a minut further to VICTORIA GARDENS property - road becomes dusty for a while but flat. Walk up the hill to Lago Resort Best Views - it takes 8 minutes (not approachable by car on that side) THIS WAY YOU WILL PAY 3-5 TIMES LESS AND SPEND THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME. *You shouldn't tell him that I r going to the hotel, they will ask for more. Anyway you shouldn't pay more than 300 shillings from a city center. *When you go back to the city I recommend to use the same way because there is a 🏍️ station near Victoria Gardens. Hillary and Roland will help you with everything. They are very hospitable. These two are competing in kindness. Also, they can make you a big meal for chips. The place itself is clean, affordable and placed in a serene location. I was there...
Read moreThe place is serene being located at the Riat Hills, the ambient environment with a birds eye view over the world city and especially the airport is a good place. Loved the trees there. The staff are so wonderful and knowledgeable. Actually we had a lot of discourse and engagement on very many topics.
The only challenge is the road heading there. Don't ever make mistake of using the Uzima University route, it is steep and full of small pebbles. The only route from town is taking the Kisumu-Kakamega Hills up to Riat Roundabout and turn left towards Ramogi Institute. The road is tarmacked up to the gate of the institute. Actually you will go through their compound for some distance.
The rooms at the hotel are very clean and well aerated. However, the reading tables are so small, this need to be acted upon. Another challenge I found was hot showers for the top floor rooms weren't working coz of lack of enough pressure for the instant shower 🚿 to work. Had to content with the cold water during my four-day stay.
Despite all those few challenges, I will always be spending here in all my...
