Sosa Cottages — Hotel in Gisambai ward

Staying at Sosa cottages was not a good experience for me. Having heard this is the only best hotel in Vihiga, I opted for it, but I had to shorten my stay. I stayed in one of the cottages.

Let me start with what I liked. I think the food was okay, I love the nature feel, the gardens, and the fact that you can take a stroll or feel the gentle breeze of nature on your skin. Security is also good. The internet was equally good. The service was partially good.

To the horrible part: The first night, though, it rained, I had to battle with toad and slugs in my room. I couldn't understand how they managed to get in even with the door locked. I even called the reception, and it took over 45 minutes and had to call twice, but it seemed they were too busy to attend to a displeased customer. I was mentally awake all night with the imagination that some reptile could easily creep in. Secondly, the floor was not cleaned, as I saw a lizard poo on the floor, and there was this mouldy stench I didn't like, and had to request for an air freshener which only solved the problem for few minutes. Don't also expect anything serious from the TV stations. If you can manage to binge on Netflix on your phone or PC, you will be better off, thanks to their good Internet.

Overall, I think my stay could have been better as there is so much to have explored for my planned 1 week stay, which abruptly turned to 1 night. If the management can pay attention to the cleanliness of the room, proactive on possible things that could make it more enjoyable for the customers and try to fumigate more often, I think it would help.

SOSA COTTAGES! Remember this name as this is best hotel in Vihiga County! Prices are excellent, I have stayed with my family for a weekend and honestly I am so happy we found this place. We felt special from the beginning to the end. The room was lovely, super clean with most comfortable bed I have ever slept on! bathroom with shower very clean.Food was awesome there,it was really appreciable wid finger licking food and mouthwatering snacks and dishes . View from the hotel is hilarious Overall I had best stay ever in Vihiga County! and definitely will back there and will recomend this peace of heaven in Western kenya to everyone!!:

Located just less than 20min drive from Kisumu CBD along Kisumu- Kakamega RD, just before Mbale, Sosa Cottages is a perfect retreat for those looking to visit a place out of Kisumu and its environs.

This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool and the staff are also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority

The swimming pool small, can be easily crowded by just a handful of people. To me it doesnt have the same impression about the rest of the hotel. Should consider a bigger pool in future.

Another establishment I visited while touring the Western circuit. Sosa Cottages are located in Vihiga county about 10 minutes drive from the town center. The hotel itself is beautiful , has lovely gardens and a pool side area.||||We visited for lunch and an afternoon swim. Unfortunately, the service we received was terrible. We visited during a busy weekend so we expected some slight delays but we were not amused by;||- 30 minute delays to serve us drinks||- 1 hr 45 minute delay to serve food||-Really rude and un-attentive staff, they got the drinks orders wrong after a thirty minute delay||- The really poorly presented and tasteless food||-The drainage at the changing rooms was really bad and was made worse by the fact that nobody showed up to mop up the floor all afternoon||||The only nice thing apart from the physical aspects of the property was the swim we enjoyed at the pool.||||||I would not visit this place again.
