With all the signage dotted everywhere in Kikuyu, I finally got curious enough to stop by.
They have accommodation, conference rooms, but I am only reviewing the restaurant. I do not know about their other facilities.
A star for location. Located in Kikuyu near the Kikuyu dairy making it accessible to anyone. They have both an upstairs and downstairs, therefore the space is more than sufficient.
They have an extensive menu. This might be a plus for many people but not me. Chances of having truly authentic, flavorful and delicious meals reduces significantly when there are too many food items on a menu. They have local dishes, fast food, pizzas.... It is hard to tell what they specialise in making it harder to pick a dish.
Since it was raining when I stopped by, I first ordered a mint latte and a mandazi so that I could truly go through the menu. It took forever to get a server to take my order. I asked them to make sure that the mandazi was warmed. I got a cold mandazi which they did warm when I returned it. The mint latte was extremely sweet. They put too much syrup that there was still some at the bottom of the cup when I finished it. I do not take sugar in my drinks and I therefore struggled to finish the coffee. I couldn't even taste the coffee. It wasn't hot either, just warm. Suffice to say I decided not to order anything else and just paid the bill which strangely came the same time as the meal. It gave the impression that payment was more important than service or food. Bringing the bill that early also means that the waiters or managers are not interested in knowing how your meal was and if you enjoyed it. If you like sweetened drinks, then this will be okay for you. I could taste the mint and the coffee was well presented. The mandazi was just a mandazi. Nothing to write home about.
The mandazi and coffee came to around KES 260. The main meals and drinks are a bit on the higher end. Not Westlands, Kilimani, CBD high, but high for the area.
I think this place is ideal for a chama meet up, a quick business meeting or even a casual meeting.
I personally would not go back, but am sure there are people who would like this place.
There is a hotdog and popcorn stand outside and there always seems...
Read moreLiterally just left the place , awful customer service, the food is so little for the price they're charging, awful waiters and waitresses not doing their job instead of serving the customers they just sit around ( wakipeana tu mots) and not attend to you fyi waited for close to two hours to get a decent meal, our counterpart had to wake up and go remind the waitress to bring the food can you imagine and found her talking and laughing with the other waitresses. Oh and she even forgot what we had ordered. Don't even let me start on the chicken, what was even that, absolutely no seasoning it's as if they just cut the chicken and threw it into the oil. They should really change if not just close the...
Read moreMum's Hotel. I held you to high standards until when you sold me foul smelling chicken. For an above average priced hotel, the food is not worth it. And your staff had the audacity to gang up on me and say that it wasn't bad. Your waitresses are rude and the supervisors even worse. Mostly the slender one with short dyed hair. A customer is not mad when they say that the food is bad. I did not need the refund. But the price is worth my never coming back again....
