Kilima Safari Camp is an excellent place to stay! The main lobby is very beautiful and spacious, with cool drinks on arrival. Very welcome after a hot drive! The dining area and bar are also very large, with tea and coffee facilities, WiFi, toilets, and a small shop. A good place to hang out. |Our room was very far away from the dining room so a bit of a walk. At night we were escorted by Maasai warriors so we felt safe. We could see Mount Kilimanjaro from our front door! The tented room was very comfortable. Canvas walls and roof with glass doors and tiled floors. A large bathroom, though with a weird layout. The shower opened directly out to the main room, which would have been fine for couples but I was with my dad so it was a bit awkward! There was a kettle and tea and coffee, but no fridge to store milk. The beds weren’t overly comfortable so we mentioned this to staff. My dad has a bad back and the staff added a softer overlay on his bed while we were out for the day. He had much better sleep the second night! Cute warthogs on the curtains in the room were a nice touch. |The food was great, and plenty of it with lots of choices. They made fresh omelettes to order or eggs as you like them for breakfast. Lots of desserts and drink options too. |We really liked the viewing tower above the dining room. Up the stairs we could have a 360 degree view of the surrounding area, including Kilimanjaro. |There was wildlife around as well. We saw hornbills, warthogs, mongoose, vervet monkeys, and a kudu in camp, and heard lions overnight. The camp is in a great location for Amboseli...

While the hotel may look nice with its private cottages and a lovely pool, do not be fooled. This place is run by dishonest management, and the staff have a history of stealing money from guests’ rooms. Unfortunately, we became victims of this – €600 was stolen from our locked safe in the hotel room. The money was taken in specific amounts from three different wallets (€150, €150, and €300), leaving just enough so that we wouldn’t immediately notice. If we hadn’t needed the money to pay for our safari, we might not have realized it was missing.
This was a terrible experience, made even worse by how the manager treated us. He refused to take the theft seriously, never apologized, and even acted as if we were making the story up. They also refused to contact the police, forcing us to do it ourselves. In Kenya, where police don’t have vehicles, this meant we had to personally bring officers to the hotel.
To make matters worse, the manager treated the police officers better than us—inviting them to dinner and trying to convince them that we fabricated the entire story. We have absolutely no reason to invent such a serious situation. Losing €600 completely ruined our plans—we missed our safari and had to spend the day at the police station. This theft has caused us significant stress and financial hardship for the rest of our trip in Kenya.
We demand an immediate resolution to this matter. Until it is resolved, I STRONGLY warn others to AVOID staying...
