*Location * This place is quite far all the way in Athi River. If you are driving, enter through daystar. The road that Google map leads you to is very bumpy and rough. Ignore Google maps and drive ahead until you see the daystar board and turn from there. The road is much better.
I am sure one can use public transport, but it would be quite a challenge.
The place can be quite hot during the day.
*Service * The service is good.
Food Kenya is not known for its cuisine. The same food you get anywhere else is what you will get here.
Experience The place is lovely with plenty of green spaces. You get your own private tent making it a bit intimate.
They have a few activities such as hiking, swimming, archery, and of course the quad bikes which are probably their biggest attraction. Hiking is probably best done in the morning at KES 700 which I found unreasonable.
Swimming is KES 500 per head. The pool is not big and when packed, not an enjoyable experience. This is not really a swimmers pool, but more of a relaxing in the water pool. The water is quite cold.
The quad bikes are quite expensive in my opinion at KES 3500 per person for 30 minutes or KES 5500 sharing for the same duration. We were told that we would see animals, but we only saw a puddy cat š.
There was archery as well, but we never tried it out.
We ordered a platter for KES 6000 and everyone got a drink. Most none alcoholic drinks were around KES 500 each.
The food was okay, but most people were dissatisfied with their drinks. I got an iced coffee and it was average.
The place is relatively quite. Some of us even napped in the afternoon.
The bathrooms were clean with hot showers but no soap, carry your own.
Final Thoughts This is not a place for solo travellers, but more families or group of friends.
They have accommodation with the cheapest starting from KES 10,000 per night. Maybe this would be great for a couple that likes adventure.
Definitely have a budget. Sans the quad bike experience, a family of 7 will probably spend KES 15,000 if they choose to just swim, eat, have some drinks and maybe play pool as a group activity.
If you want to do more activities like quad biking and maybe archery, you are looking at a budget of KES 25,000 and above. It is definitely not a cheap place.
If you want a solo gateway where you spend a night, hike in the morning, eat, go on the quad bikes, swim and try your hand at archery, I think a budget of KES 20,000 to KES 25,000 would be sufficient minus transport.
They do have camping tents, if camping is your thing.
I enjoyed the experience and would recommend it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe natural serenity of the facility is excellent and I truly loved the environment. I commend the management for maintaining the lawns and landscaping. However, I'm disappointed with the services we received. We travelled hundreds of kilometers for a quad biking experience but failed to get value for our money, especially after paying for a 2-hour ride only to get about 1 hr 10 minutes of the entire 2 hrs. Despite our complaints, no compensatory ride was offered. Instead, the staff simply argued over why they had to waste our time observing a rock for 30 minutes (for reference, I have attached an image of the rock we were defrauded with). The food service was also pathetic, with long delay times and cold food with poor quality for the price being served. Disheartening that I had to request the waitress to microwave the food after waiting for it for over an hour. I wish I'd read previous reviews of client complaints about the poor quad bike and food services since I had to cut short a three-day stay on the first day and would never wish to visit the facility again.
UPDATE: Despite the hotels "management" response to investigate our experience, it has neither contacted us or written a formal apology. This is clearly evident of their "don't-care" attitude to clients' feedback about their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis destination offers a wonderful escape for families, couples, and individuals alike. It's a tranquil environment, conveniently located not far from the capital city. I particularly enjoyed the quad biking experience; the instructor was highly skilled, and it took me less than five minutes to feel comfortable handling the bike.
Thereās also a well-maintained field available for workouts and various fun activities, with neatly kept grass. Families can enjoy bicycles, hoverboards, and scooters, ensuring that kids have plenty of options for entertainment.
While the food was satisfactory, I did find the service to be somewhat inconsistent. There seemed to be a bit of attitude from some staff members, and the service could benefit from improvement. Additionally, I noticed that some drinks, particularly those that are less frequently ordered, need to be monitored more closely. For instance, I received a bottle of Sikera apple cider that had expired in mid-June.
Overall, however, this location is a fantastic spot for relaxation and enjoyment. I highly recommend visiting, as thereās plenty of...
