Service: 7.5/10|The staff are the loveliest. Great communication, they |make sure you are taken care of to their best abilities. I didn’t give a 10 for one important reason: there was a group of American ladies staying there at the same time. Lovely, lovely women. But, they sang at the top of their lungs during one meal time, had a party where we could hear the lyrics from bed past 10pm on night. It generally felt like we had invaded THEIR personal home. The staff just went along with it. This isn’t a bad thing, just be aware that your vacation is not yours when you arrive, it’s everyone’s. You’re now one big squad. A nightmare for someone looking for some quiet 🫠||Food: 8/10|Fresh and tasty. Probably my favorite part. I gave this a 7 because while I understand the need to have systems in place for efficiency and to avoid food waste, having to eat ONLY what’s available only rather than what you want, wherever you want, is something you need to be aware is not possible. And if you need a snack after dinner, tough luck, no room service. low-key boarding school vibes. ||Rooms: 3/10|Now, this one is our fault for not knowing that the Round Hut had an open plan bathroom. And when I mean open, the toilet is just behind your bed’s headboard, no door. Bathtub is right there next to your bed. Now, this may be cute to some, just not for us. Again, our fault for not checking. There are no space heaters or a fireplace in all the rooms, so if it’s cold, cuddle up. Would also call ahead if it has been raining to ensure the water from the taps are not affected/brown as we experienced, and it affected our showers for majority of our time there. ||Location: 10/10|The pictures don’t do any justice. Beautiful and serene||Dogs:...
Read moreWow, where to begin! Olepangi Farm is the most beautiful place we have ever stayed with stunning gardens and beautiful architecture! My husband and I stayed there in the Round House for three nights in June as part of a larger trip to celebrate our 20th anniversary. When we arrived, we were greeted with a delicious welcome drink and the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers, freshly picked from the gardens. The views from the main lodge area were spectacular! Each evening, it was an incredible experience to enjoy a drink made by "King Charles" and watch the fiery gold and orange sun setting behind the hills.||On our first day, we decided to enjoy some of the activities on the farm which I highly recommend. In the morning, we took a tour of the farm and had a chance to milk one of the cows. Meal times are a celebration of the farm, with delicious fruits and vegetables straight from the garden...truly a farm-to-table experience! After our tour of the farm, I learned how to arrange flowers and the bouquet I created was taken to our cottage to enjoy. Later that morning, we took a four mile walk with the legendary Mr. Kariyuki whose family lives on the land surrounding the farm. He is a self-taught philosopher and avid reader. His knowledge of the land is incredible. We ended the day with an incredible tour of the gardens and the main house. Our second day was spent at Ol Pejeta Conservancy which is not far from Olepangi and definitely worth a day trip to see the abundant wildlife and last two northern white rhinos in the world.||Our entire experience at Olepangi was extraordinary and we definitely want to come back. I highly recommend staying there...it was one of the highlights of our...
Read moreThe minute we arrived at Olepangi Farm, we felt its warm embrace. Driving in through the main gate, we received a fresh bouquet of locally-grown flowers and a hearty welcome on arrival. ||Just north of the equator, this beautiful and stylishly-designed lodge in the Laikipia plains sits in one of the most scenic parts of the country, with clear views of Mt Kenya rising above the horizon each morning, near the wildlife reserves and landscapes you dream of seeing on safari. ||The owners, Elizabeth and Kier, were kind and gracious and friendly and their staff were always helpful and very knowledgeable. It was delightful to talk to them and learn more about the farm and surrounding countryside and culture.||The high end design aesthetic and attention to detail were notable at Olepangi Farm. And there was so much to see and do!! We took a tour of the farm and gardens, where organic and natural methods were used to grow the produce we had for our healthy and delicious meals. There are horses to ride, cows to milk, chickens to feed, walks through the wildflowers along the river, safari excursions to nearby wildlife reserves, or the option to relax, have a massage, sit on the massive bed swing overlooking the valley, or take a swim in the infinity pool. ||Every evening we had "sundowner" drinks on the deck, with a warming fire as the sun set behind the massive euphorbia candelabra trees. ||It's hard to describe the sense of peace and enjoyment we felt, in this special place. I highly recommend a multi-day stay, to fully immerse yourself in the experience. A special and memorable must-see location on any...
