Take care when booking, i booked what i thought was an en-suite room for 6000ksh it turned out to be tent!! in reality the booking.com did say "tent" in small letters but as i had been looking at en-suite rooms B&B at between 5 and 8k it did not cross my mind to expect a tent for two!! We were not the only ones to make that mistake. We ended up paying 8000 for the en-suite room with a double bed and balcony. I could not be bothered searching again at short notice. Despite that issue we had a great time the facilities are amazing - large pool, well equipped gym, squash court, table tennis and pool table. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. The food in the evening is OK but not exceptional, breakfast is good. For the en-suite room B&B the price is about right. For the camping, why would you pay 6k for a tent and breakfast for two when elsewhere you can get an en-suite room for 5-6k B&B. It would be better to drop the price of camping and exclude breakfast too. That would get people in who would then spend on food and drinks anyway. Better to have a full place and active restaurant and bar than high ticket price but empty accom. We were there for the bank holiday weekend early June - the tents were empty on Friday night, and so were all the other rooms. That should tell...
Read moreI stayed at the Mwanzo lodge as part of a group travel tour. This was one of the best lodges we stayed at. When we arrived the staff already greeted us with a local welcome drink and sang for us. In general, this must have been the most musical group of people working there we encountered during our travels. A special shoutout goes to Cynthia for her amazing dancing skills and joyful presence. She and her colleague even adjusted the playlist to our drinks ;-) The singing and dancing to transfer us from dinner to the bar for some evening drinks was a fun touch! ||The rooms were big, clean and I had a perfect view from my balcony from which I could enjoy the sunset. The only downside was that getting warm water in the shower was a bit of a struggle. I found out towards the end of my first shower that the hot and cold water were reversed :D. ||Food was fantastic. The location to eat outside is a bit too windy sometimes - I think Germans freeze a lot quicker than Kenyans. The next evening we were given an indoor location, so the staff definitely picked up on that.||If you're looking for a place to stay in this area, I'd definitely...
Read moreHad a bad experience while staying in this hotel.Firstly it's not a tourist friendly hotel.whole place and all rooms were empty.hardly we saw any tourists in this hotel.not at all happening, very silent ,dead, lonely hotel to stay.secondly initially there was no wifi, food came very late inspite of informing them before advance.TV had only local channels coming which we don't understand.||Really won't recommend this place for tourists.it totally dries of all enthusiasm of the whole trip when you come across such a hotel during your exciting trip.||Food was ok,staff was ok,rooms were suffocating.worst part was they served us bread jam in desert during our dinner which was so stupid.inspite of them having icecream with them.we had to ask them to serve icecream. would certainly NOT recommend this place...
