My family just returned from safari and one of the highlights of the trip was our stay at Mara Olapa Camp. Situated within the park boundary, it allowed us to be on the grasslands at dusk and start our day before sunrise so that we could have the magical experience of night turning to day on the savannah. In the evenings, we were able to watch the sunset from the deck of the camp as the animals crossed the plains in front of us. In addition to the ideal location, the staff was amazing! Since the tents are within the park, guests are attended at all times for protection when outside the tents and the coordination of that was effortless. Joel, the manager, was remarkable in his attentiveness, professionalism and kindness. The joy of boutique hotels like this is that you have the opportunity to experience not just the beauty of Kenya, but you can connect with the people and their culture. We were celebrating a special family event, my parents 60th anniversary and Joel arranged an amazing Maasai celebration over dinner. The chef, Antony, was phenomenal. He spoke with the guests about their preferences and prepared accordingly both at the camp and with the delicious picnics he packed for our safari days. The efforts of the staff made our stay here an...
Read moreWe had a wonderful four-night stay at Mara Olapa at the end of October and would highly recommend it to friends and family who want to do a tented safari experience in the Maasai Mara. We loved that the camp was small and eco-friendly, the tents were spacious and beds were comfy, the staff was so sweet, the food was ridiculously delicious (ask for small portions, believe me!), and we got to see so many animals! Your first game drive begins the moment you get picked up for the airstrip. The camp is well-located, and it always seemed like we ran into lions within minutes of starting each game drive. A huge highlight was watching a small group of elephants walk right by our tent one afternoon, too. We felt that the camp was a good value for money because it included everything we wanted, but none of the ultra-luxurious amenities we didn't need. Make sure you bring enough cash with you to cover your park fees, extra costs like drinks, and tips. Big thanks to Eric and the team at Mara Olapa (Mary, Clara, Agola, Tony, our driver Jay, and others) for making our first trip to the Mara...
Read moreThis place is a gem! If you are looking for a personalized, luxury experience in the Mara, you cannot go wrong. The location is perfect. Gives you the feeling of living in the wild and it’s so close to all the game activity. The tents are spacious and well designed. The service is exceptional, a chef to cook you your favorite food, picnic breakfast and lunch options, hot water shower after a tiring day in safari and such kind staff. At the end of 4 nights, we were like a family and it felt really sad to leave them. My brother fell sick during the trip and while he stayed back in the tent an entire day sleeping, they made sure he ate something and checked in on him constantly. The chef also made a home remedy with ginger, turmeric and honey for all of us to relieve our cold and it did wonders. They go above and beyond to make your stay a memorable one. Highly recommend! 10/10!
Only feedback - would be nice to have WiFi extended to the tents but totally understandable given...
