Christmas lunch experience was horrible:
The hotel decided to cash in big, they charged 3, 500 per person and allowed more people than they could handle to stream in. They billed at the reception before even allocating a table(those allocating tables disappear after that, no one is allocated to cater to the needs of guests once they settle). They man the start of the buffet table to ensure they checked that you had paid before serving.
Now after calling people to serve a makeshift buffet: No labels on food so you can only identify common foods but things like soup and deserts well you had to think what it was. (the soup happened to be onion soup, most people especially kids don't like the taste of lots of onions, it was a poor choice). I saw people just picking the bun and moving on. No one was manning the food station to ensure quick replenishment, we had to request the chef cutting the meat to go check if there was more food a couple of times so he'd leave his station, go to the kitchen and just add a small bowl of rice while there are more than fifty people on queue. In the end, most of the food got finished, one had to wait for food to be cooked so you pick what was there then keep coming to check if they added some more. Only 20 people can say they ate and enjoyed their food, rest of us well over 60 we tasted something not worth the 3500. There was no cutlery at the buffet tables or the set tables, you request and wait until they bring what they can get in stages so you eat a bit with your hands. Did i mention at first they didn't have a station to clean hands nor hot towels. The first people were told to go to the washrooms before they decided to set up. You would see many waiters rushing to and from with empty hands, some carrying extra tables to set up and sofas. You would also see lots of used plates still on tables. You as a guest had to place the plates down on the ground to create space on the table. (The set up was outdoors where tables were spread along the fence under trees so it was difficult for even the waiters to go along the fence checking whether guests needed something) It wasn't clear if the buffet was inclusive of a soft drink/water. So if you didn't ask, you get to pay for it. If you order you wait for it and see the person who took the order forgot so you order again and again. I almost forgot, they were doing open barbecue and when the chefs noticed guys were many they limited the option and portion greatly. Someone i was with only got the bony part of a small piece of chicken, another only two small cubes of goat meat.
Most of us didn't enjoy our Christmas lunch, we left 14,000 for a 3,000 type of meal because of: Poor/zero planning Poor/zero coordination
It's a pity that with such an investment on the good facilities, services can be this wanting.
You would rather limit the guests number and they get satisfied with what you offer and they go out recommending the place than allow excess people to stream in, pay and not get the worth of what they paid and they all go out complaining.
You see one guest can be representing an organization, they get impressed with the grounds and the facilities but you decide to show them through your services plus food that the hotel is not at par with what they see, every guest should be seen as a free avenue of advertisement.

Read moreWent here during the festive season and honestly the two stars are for the hospitality aspects of the place and also the serenity that is in the area. The pool was also okay. It wasn’t crowded unlike some places. But the catering aspects of this place are beyond awful… For one they always had delays while preparing and serving food. And sometimes it would be too salty or spicy. Their buffet was never thought out at all. You could tell since they didn’t have any special foods incase a customer had an allergy or something (and this is a huge overlook from the chefs at this hotel) They also didn’t cater properly for baby foods cause honestly how do you put ginger and other spices in baby food? Also they should also create a proper meal plan and schedule because they didn’t have 4 o’clock tea. And dinner would be served late which is something you don’t see at a 5 star hotel. At some point they didn’t have any water to offer and they would only give the options of sodas.. I also think they should get new management since clearly the ones on duty now can’t do their jobs clearly. The place has a lot of potential if handled by the right people. Otherwise the complains will continue yo be...
