Tldr: Hospitality- Out of this world good. Cottages: Self-contained with breathtaking views of lake Elementaita. Food- wide array and delicious. Access- About 7kms Off-road but navigable with any vehicle. SUV preferred. Security- Top notch. Final verdict- Highly recommended. 5 🌟 in our books.
Visited Lake Elementaita Mountain Lodge on New Year’s Eve into 2024, and here are our observations and experiences;
Hospitality: The staff's exceptional hospitality sets this lodge apart. From arrival to departure, the warmth and helpfulness were unparalleled. Special thanks to Wambui, Peninah, and Pamela, who went above and beyond during our 3-day stay. The Lodge management’s dedication to recruiting such hospitable staff truly shines.
Cottages: Positioned at a high altitude with breathtaking views of Lake Elementaita, each self-contained lodge/villa offers privacy and exclusivity. We stayed in a cottage at the lower-most point, providing uninterrupted vistas of the lake. The detached cottages amplify the sense of serenity, and we could enjoy the views undisturbed.
Food and Drinks: A diverse and delicious menu catered to all tastes. Opting for breakfast on our cottage’s porch was a delightful option, with the hotel customizing orders to our preferences. A thoughtful touch that added to the overall experience.
Accessibility: While the lodge is approximately 7-8 kms off-road, accessible to any vehicle, an SUV is advisable for the rocky sections. The scenic drive adds to the adventure, making it a part of the overall experience. Some of the cottages are quite a distance from the reception and it’s advisable to drive to and from your villa for meals and drinks. The lodge has a utility van to shuttle patrons to and fro, so this shouldn’t be an issue if you don’t have access to a private vehicle.
Security: Top-notch security with electric fencing, regular patrols, and ample compound lighting ensured a secure stay. We felt safe throughout our visit, even during the off-road drive to the lodge. Not so sure about driving to the lodge at night.
Other: The lodge is set in a semi wild setting and as such one is bound to encounter the indigenous flora and fauna of the area. Embrace nature – occasional insects (crickets, dragonflies) are part of the wilderness setting and would find their way into the villa especially if the sliding porch doors were left open. Bring insect spray if needed. We found it added to the experience rather than being an issue.
WiFi is available in case you still want to connect with the rest of the world and plug in to the happenings out there.
There is a swimming pool and spa available for anyone wishing to indulge more.
Final Verdict: Lake Elementaita Mountain Lodge left an indelible memory. Unmatched vistas, exceptional hospitality, and an overall unique experience. Highly recommended – a perfect start to our 2024. Thank you for the lasting memories. 5 🌟...

What to say...i read previous reviews and didn't like the place in theory but ended up having to go because all other options were booked.
The road is murram but it's an adventure and worth the while once you reach the top which is just one breath taking view after another with well manicured lawns
Either i didn't find the man everyone complains about at the reception or i was just plain lucky, the customer care was very good not just decent...from the gate to reception to waiters chefs and chauffeurs, obviously not all are perfect but i was content with the service i got considering the reviews
Despite a last minute option i chose the place because of good food reviews and they do not dissappoint. They could do more on variety but food is excellently cooked...talking about well done but soft meats, moist cakes not just cake....wonderfully made food in the buffet people not al carte
Rooms are not only clean but they are properly cleaned daily especially the toilet and bathtub, i liked that; mounted TV; all the mirrors (including the public washrooms) have lights with mirrors for the ladies; all taps including in public spaces have hot water🥹
They seemed to try be really eco friendly and have their own farm.
The internet however was a HUGE letdown
For me it wasn't just a stay, it was an experience....
