Just two kilometers from the untamed magic of Meru National Park, Ikweta Safari Camp is where wilderness and romance whisper to each other beneath the Nyambene Hills. This hidden gem, cradled by nature’s embrace, feels like a love letter written in soft winds and birdsong. Here, time slows, and every moment is bathed in golden light—perfect for lovers of both nature and soul. The safari tents and cottages, with their airy drapes and wooden touches, invite you to wake to dawn’s first blush and fall asleep under a quilt of stars. Each veranda opens to gardens that bloom like poetry, where butterflies and sunbeams dance in quiet harmony. The organic garden feeds not just the body but the spirit, with meals that taste of earth, rain, and care. And then, there’s the pool—a sapphire secret shimmering beneath the African sun. Fringed by swaying palms and the sweet scent of wildflowers, it beckons lovers to slip in, weightless and free. As dusk falls, the water mirrors the sky’s blush, and every shared glance feels like a promise whispered in liquid light. Allan Mwangi, the heart of Ikweta, is a true superstar—gracious, attentive, and endlessly passionate. His warm presence ensures every guest feels cherished, making each stay unforgettable and magical. Anne, the radiant soul of Ikweta’s dining experience, overflows with warmth, grace, and an extraordinary sense of heartfelt hospitality. But it is the intimacy of Ikweta that lingers long after you leave—the warm smiles of the staff, the soft crackle of a campfire shared under an endless sky, the thrill of adventure as lions roar softly in the distance. Ikweta is more than a camp; it is a place where hearts listen, where nature romances you, and where love—wild and gentle—finds its voice.

so first thing first when you are considering if this place is worth a visit, i hope you come directly while you are still hesitate. to comment on why this place is a perfect for your jurney, definitely their warmly service like really kills all the hotels i have stayed in NBO, everything is planned for you so in advance and make you feel comfortable. We visited there after 2pm,we got nice welcome drinks and then nice stir beef for our starving stomach,i shall point out as a Chinese i don't usually say some dishes are tasty cuz iam kinda picky about the food, but the beef stir made me think about my gradma, who has feed my body for almost 25 years(not passed cuz im 25) i don't mean to let you think this food is that really fantasy but its just right flavor with fresh ingredients will make you want more without hurting your health. also they will give you a blackboard to show the dishes(really nice to ppl like me who cannot speak much English) also the cats! really gentle man with their little paw put on your lap and meow: sry mam can i get some food 🥺 (if you don’t like someone will help you to let them go The decoration here is very unique Artificial waterfall at night Last thing i want to remind you is bringing your own slippers and hot water in the room takes some time(I mean like 8-10mins around as my experience) They even helped me find a bracelet i lost in my room And if you happen to stay here, it’s worth stay longer. Btw if someone can see this I want to know if you sell your dragon fruit (as I see a group pitaya trees inside the camp)

My partner and I recently stayed here for one night. The room and setting were pretty and the staff was nice. However, our bed was visibly dirty (including some red stains on the pillows not pictured here) and full of hairs which made us quite uncomfortable to sleep in it. There were also a number of bugs in the bed which I do understand can be expected in a wilderness setting. The food was pretty good, however as seen in some other reviews some things did get lost in translation. On our last day we asked for a packed breakfast so we could go on an early game drive and despite specifying we were vegetarian, and confirming we did not like to add eggs and that there would be jam with the pancakes, the order was mixed up and we got eggs and sausages which we sadly could not eat and had to waste, but didn’t get any jam. This were the two negative points, otherwise the camp was pretty. Addendum after answer from the owner : Thank you for your answer. I think you must have mistaken us for another couple as we decided to just ride it out for the sheets as it was late and only for one night and did not call the staff. Same goes for the meals, we ate vegetarian options for lunch (pasta with tomatoes and onions) and dinner (soup and dahl with rice) and told the staff upon arrival that we were vegetarian.

We stayed at iKWETA Safari Camp for two nights. It being close to the main gate of Meru National park is just one of the plus of the camp. First and foremost: We were welcomed with fresh drinks and thourough instructions and information about the property. The staff, no matter who we met or interacted with, was very friendly and welcoming, taking good care of us and our needs and always offering at least a slight smile for us. Just as I was writing this review our guide got a call that we left something, so staff really is looking out for you! The tents are spacious, a little luxurious, romantic and just very comfortable. You have a small veranda, equipped with some chairs to lounge on, ice cold water in a flask, a small washroom and shower. The bed isn't spacious, but getting to cuddle up with your partner isn't something I'd mind at all. The mattress is quite hard, which I especially enjoy, but nevertheless comfy. There is a mosquito net over the bed, however it is a bit flimsy. There are other means to keep mosquitos off tho, so it really wasn't something I'd be picky about.

The pool area is just fine. The water, due to the temperatures in Meru, is quite warm, but it is kept in excellent condition. There are some leaves in it from the trees surrounding the pool. But that's just nature and doesn't impact the relieve of hopping in for a swim after hot game drives.

The food is served a la carte. You get to choose from a menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast didn't wow us, but lunch (packed or on the property) and dinner were amazing! The food was well prepared, tasty and after a long game drive just the treat you need. The chef even came around inquiring about dinner. On our last evening we were suprised by Susan and restaurant staff for our wedding anniversary slash belated honeymoon. With songs, drums and dance we were presented a homemade and beautifully decorated cake, some balloons and candles. We would like to thank everyone involved in that little surprise. You made our stay with you even better and memorable and we wish we could have enduldged in the cake even more - it was one of the best we've had in such a long time!

The property itself is very green, well cared for show stopping. When it gets dark it is slightly lighted with fairy lights, small Led candles and some minor lamps. It sets of a mystic, romantic, comfy and relaxing environment. If you need more light moving around, a torch is provided by the camp. The camp is also very eager to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Many vegetables, fruits and ingredients are grown in their own gardens, there is no plastic to be found (metal flask and cups, minimal packaging for everything). Even lunches were in reusable containers. The juice packages and clingfilm wrapped sandwiches were the only exceptions. Even rodent and snake control on property meets eco-friendly standards: They've a lot of cats (according to Susan about 30-35?)! You encounter cats all over the property. Some begging for food with their loud meows, some cuddling up to you if you envite them, some just running around doing their jobs and avoiding you. If you don't like cats, just don't engage with them, they will not bother you at all. For us, the cats were the biggest plus. They are well cared for, vaccinated and fixed and we loved interacting with them.

There are a few things that aren't perfect but we didn't mind at all. Some towels were stained but given that people come here to do game drives in the park, which just happens to be a dusty undertaking, they get dirty and I imagine the red sand stains like hell. They were still freshly washed and clean. The Wifi also wasn't the best, but there is regular cell service available and I really didn't mind being off my phone for a bit.

iKWETA Safari Camp is a small Oasis tugged away close to Meru NP and we would recommend it to everyone. It was a great stay and we wish we could have extended it a bit further. Asante Sana to everyone at iKWETA who made our stay so memorable. We wish you...

Our stay at ikweta was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were embraced by warmth and impeccable service that set the tone for an unforgettable experience.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, and their assistance with our car troubles was particularly noteworthy. When our vehicle faced an unexpected issue, they quickly connected us with a skilled mechanic who resolved the problem efficiently. Their care and resourcefulness saved our trip!

Susan, the owner, is an exceptional host. Her warm personality and engaging conversations added a personal touch to our stay. We genuinely enjoyed our intellectual exchanges with her, which felt like a rare and refreshing connection.

The campsite’s garden is a hidden gem. Situated at the back of the property, it is lush, serene, and brimming with fresh produce, much of which found its way to our plates. Knowing that the food we enjoyed was grown just steps away enhanced the dining experience tenfold.

Our accommodation, the Buffalo Tent, was beautifully designed .Every detail was thoughtfully considered, making our stay both comfortable and memorable.

Another highlight was the driver arranged by the campsite, who took us to Meru National Park. His professionalism, extensive knowledge of the area, and friendly demeanor elevated our excursion into something truly special. We left the park with cherished memories and a deeper appreciation of the region.

We cannot thank the team at Ikweta enough for making our stay so seamless and enjoyable. It is clear that they are passionate about what they do, and it shines through in every aspect of the experience. We look forward to returning soon with our friends and family. If you’re looking for a unique blend of luxury, authenticity, and unparalleled hospitality, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Thank you again, ikweta for an incredible stay!...
