I needed a place to sleep pretty much as close to the aiport as possible, so that my daughter and I would not have to spend the night in the airport terminal for our early morining connection. Let's just say I am converted to the Lunge life - it would have been so much better to sleep on a chair in a lounge and take that misery.||Let me ne clear, I anticipated basci accomodation - that was clear as what was on the table. Someone would collect us from the airport - we could find a clean basic bedroom and shower to sleep and we woudl be driven back to the airport in the morning. My expectations were not unreasonable.||I was promptly contacted by the hotel to make arrangements for pick up and drop off. In these exchanges, it was never mentioned if there was a fee and what that fee might be for the transportation. If it was mentioned, and given the actual amount I woudl actually pay - I would have considered an alternative situation. ||Our flight arrived a little late and after immigration it was well after 11pm when we exited and were met by a really lovely woman named Martha. She was with a yougn boy and they drove my daughter and I to the hotel. I was surprised to arrive as the hotel, because I had seen in reviews that it was good for transit and business travel. I was surprised because the front of the hotel is laved with flourescent lighting and houses a nightclub. As it was a Friday night, you can expect that the club was pumping - loudly. We walked through to reception and made arrangements for collection in the morning. I paid for the hotel and we walked up with a lovely man. he took us up various flights of stairs, explaining that the hotel was very full that evening. We finally went into a room on the third floor, but we would have to find another. He checked the water supply and was electrocuted, so preferred that we choose another room since this one appeared unsafe. I appreciate his vigilance, because I personally woudl have hated to be electric shocked by the shower head.||We went one floor up to another room, at which point my daughter is so tired - I happily say goodbye to the man once we clear any electrical faults. Except then I realise that none of the plg points in the room actually work - there was one the television was on which did - but there was no remote contrl for the tv so the tv played the role of tiny red light. I was not able to charge my laptop, or cell phone - or any other devices. I'm not sure if they adverised wifi - but none was ot be found -once my phone died, we were essentially stranded there. ||The room was OK. The bed was quite hard, so we were both quite surprised by how deeply we slept. We washed and prepared to leave very early in the morning. The music played until we were leaving. The party was still going. And I am not mad at people for having a party, I just did not expect that when I looked for a resting place. ||This morning as we drove back to the aiport, Martha then told me of the price of the taxi. And I had no cash on me, nor had aI prepared for it. So we found ourselves in the worst situation as I ran aroudn the airport - at times not clear where the child was looking for an atm of money exchange that could help me. Eventually, she said she coudl take rands which I had and I paid. But we basically then had twenty minutes to run through immigration to make it to the next flight. Which was very stressful.||So now, I will invest in the airport lounge. Because this...
Read moreWe were party of 4 arriving late afternoon from Mombasa but leaving 03.00 am for airport. Really only needed one room to store luggage which we pre booked as we were dining with long established Nairobi resident. On arrival they insisted we pay for two rooms. Not as close to airport as suggested. One towel in our room plus one tiny bar of soap. Had to walk up three floors as no lift. Area pretty appalling. Couldn’t sleep at all as loud music from club next door all night. If you want cheap rubbish then try this place. If you need to rest then forget it. We booked one double room and then had to pay for additional double room. Here are...
Read moreRoom was clean and quiet, hotel rooms are at the back of the building away from the busy road. Restaurant was loud at night but not bothersome. Breakfast was okay, what you would expect: omelet, instant coffee, toasted toast. Do not underestimate the time it will take to get to the airport, 30 minutes is not enough time, give at least 45 minutes if not 1 hour (to arrive 1 hour before the flight, when the gate closes). I was down to the minute even with...
