If you choose to stay at Bateleur Camp you not only won’t be disappointed but your expectations will be exceeded in every way. Besides offering excellent service and well-appointed beautiful tents you will be immensely taken care of by your own personal team. From the host of our north nine tent compound, Joseph, who greeted us at every turn, to Priscilla who took care of us at every meal, to Cedric our personal tent valet, and to Collins our game drive guide, each and every one of them took care of every need we had.||If you are trying to decide between andBeyond Bataleur and Angama Mara, as we were, please choose Bataleur. For one, their game guides receive extra training that is above and beyond their required schooling. And Bataleur is situated lower near the open plains. Every room has a view of animals crossing by so you are always enchanted. And also the drive to the entrance of the Masai Mara is much closer than Angama Mara, although quite bumpy so if you have motion sickness, beware. But the main reason I selected andBeyond was their excellent pre-trip communication. My Angama contact kept disappearing for days on end while she was on break and then when she did return my emails she kept getting the dates wrong. Sandy, my andBeyond contact, was quick, informative and set up a Zoom call with me to discuss all the details. ||The rooms are well appointed with sunscreen, hand sanitizer, citronella spray (although we had no mosquitoes during our stay), shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair dryer (a powerful one), lip balm, etc. The mini-bar is well stocked and you will love your morning wake up call with your choice of coffee, teas and juices. ||The dining experience is wonderful with fresh, clean meals artistically created. And they paid excellent attention to my husband’s food restrictions. The chefs come out to speak to you at each meal and are obviously well-trained in culinary arts and friendliness.||I recommend bringing your own binoculars as the rooms do not have them and you will be very curious to know what animals are crossing through your tent views. And the game drives provide only one set of binoculars per couple. ||Be prepared to go a long time without a bathroom on the game drives. There are very limited opportunities. ||I saw a lot of posts recommending that we pay for a private vehicle. We did not do this but I understand better why this might be preferred. It’s not so much sharing a vehicle with strangers it’s more because you are teamed up together for the whole stay and you have to make plans together on departure times, how long to watch a particular animal activity, when to find a restroom, etc. We teamed up well with our safari companions but I could see where it could create difficulties.||You will want to tip your service team well. The website said to bring USDs which we did but wanted to gift more so we had them add the remaining gratuity to our credit card final charge. Also, we found out later that Kenyans can only use USDs printed after a certain date so if you bring cash, please bring more recent bills. Our Nairobi driver asked us to exchange a $100 bill he received from another guest that was old enough to be...
Read moreThis place can only be described as the first class of lodges!! From the airstrip pick up to the food to the service to the room and everything inbetween this place screams 7* luxury!! Let me break it down:
We were gifted this place for two nights for our wedding and chose to time it so we celebrate our 2 year anniversary. We landed and were greeted with very friendly staff, mimosas and some snacks! Our luggage was put into the cars and we headed to the camp. Greeted by every single staff member, and introduced to the people looking after us! Shout out to Richard, Joel, Francis and our amazing Chef! We sat at our table for breakfast facing the open plains and started with coffee and tea plus a food tray with many jam options, granola, a green juice and orange juice a cheese plate! Then we ordered our main meal which was fabulous! After a great brekky we were shown our room which has everything you can think of… free laundry, a fully stocked bar with everything you need from high end spirits, wines, tea coffee etc. his and hers sinks, a bath tub, outdoor shower and so much more!
Our game drives were super, Lorna our driver drove far and wide to find us great sightings. The cars are very comfortable and come with a cooler filled with drinks! The only negative is for photographers this car isn’t ideal as it’s not low so those eye level photos are possible! It’s also not got much space to flee expensive lenses or bags safely. But otherwise really good! Our bush breakfasts were hot - literally she cooked us eggs in the wild! I’ve never had that anywhere else… and we weren’t close to the camp! The other thing I’d say, in April is mara triangle has very long grass so finding game is difficult! It’s not a flaw to the camp but for a regular mara visitor, at this time I would stay in the greater mara! But I’d come back and enjoy the camp and all it has to offer over again!
Our food was spectacular - the chef was so talented! Every meal is individually plated and served! And if you don’t like something just ask him and he cooks what you want!! I am leaving a few kgs heavier!
Our service staff - Joel, Francis Richard and the whole team, made this trip perfect! Every need every whim was catered to! And they remember the little things, sparking or still, wine preferences, coffee preferences so I felt like they knew us and were two steps ahead every time!
If you’re looking for the mara experience with a handful of luxury then this is where you need to come. Once in a lifetime experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our anniversary! Thank you mingi sana to the team - we will see...

This resort is the epitome of luxury safari living, seamlessly blending elegance, authenticity, and world-class service.||Our suite was vast and impeccably designed, with refined, tasteful decor that exudes old world luxury. The bathroom alone deserves its own spotlight: a rustic hammered brass tub, dual vanities, and antique vintage hardware that looked like it came straight out of an interior design magazine (and no doubt cost a pretty penny too lol ) . Every corner felt thoughtfully curated, creating a space that was both indulgent and serene.||The service? Impeccable. Our private butler brought us fresh coffee each morning, served on a gleaming silver tray with a single rose in a stunning vase—small details that made us feel so genuinely cared for. Cocktails could be ordered at any time, from anywhere on the property, and were delivered with a smile—Lewis crafted some of the best we’ve ever had. Meals were beautifully presented, always à la carte (no buffets, thankfully!), and each dish was as delicious as it was artfully prepared.||One magical night, the team organized a private dinner for us at the adjacent camp—which happened to be unoccupied—and it felt like a scene from a movie. An entire camp, candlelit, just for us. Pure magic.||The warmth and hospitality of the team left a lasting impression. Esther quickly felt like family—her conversations at every meal made us feel truly at home. Richard greeted us daily with the most infectious, booming laugh that instantly lifted our spirits. And our safari guides? Absolutely phenomenal. Knowledgeable, kind, and passionate, they took us on unforgettable game drives where we saw four of the Big Five—including rhinos right by the camp entrance and an entire pride of lions lounging and grooming. No leopards, unfortunately—but everything else more than made up for it.||The hot air balloon safari andBeyond arranged for us was one of the most thrilling, breathtaking experiences of our lives. Floating over the Mara at sunrise is something we will never forget. And the picnic breakfasts in the bush were the perfect touch of luxury-meets-adventure.||What sets this resort apart is not just the high-end touches—it’s the thoughtfulness. Daily laundry service was included (a dream on safari), transfers to and from the airstrips were flawlessly organized, and everything ran like clockwork. Yes, it’s a splurge—but every single cent is reflected in the experience. You don’t just stay here—you live...
