"Best example for what constitutes a Home Stay" Review of Homestay Lake View Nest Reviewed March 19, 2017
This is one place which will remain etched in my mind forever. The path leading up to this homestead is simply out of a movie. There is beautiful greenery all around, little stones made from local volcanic rocks line the sides of the pathway and you can make one too with a little wish Without doubt one of the favorite homestays I stayed during my time in Kenya! Upon arrival,we were warmly welcomed by the host. The family was extremely friendly. We had two great evenings here, with bonfire & evening breeze which obviously added up to the experience. Village trekking on the second day was such an awe. I truly enjoyed walking the two of us through the village. The scenery was beautiful and it was a relieve to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment. The warm gesture by the end of the day was amazing.
While this is not a 4/5-star hotel, the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to us. True sample of excellent hospitality! Will...

Something positive: Dinner was tasty and portion sizes were big. Cons: Value for money is terrible, so the accomodation is heavily overpriced given that the cottages are really basic with no working showers, no wifi, only part time electricity and no separate bathroom. Also, the cottages were really dirty. Organized tours to Aberdare are overpriced too. The driving times to nearby attractions, such as Karuru waterfall, are much longer than the owner claimed due to absolute terrible road conditions. Also, the road to Maverick camp is a disaster. Even our 4x4 Land Cruiser had hard time taking us to the destination. Although dinner was tasty, it was really expensive and the restaurant is everything but cozy. We ended up leaving after 2 nights even though we had reservation for three. Maverick camp was just too...
Read moreWe just stayed 2 nights in this hotel and we had fun!. For the location and serenity it is comfortable, clean, safe and very friendly staff . Meals are freshly made and at times quite addictive actually, on several occasions, I had more than my usual fill. Comfortable rooms which were clean and round! The bed could have been a lot wider though but it was comfortable. Hugging the Aberdare Ranges with a clear sight to Kipipiri Mountains makes the location breathtaking. A drive to the park was hardy an hour away, with all beautiful scenery around us. The old 1920's colonial homes were a special find here and the stories behind them were just as nostaglic. We just couldn't see all of the place in 2 days. We shall be back Maverick Camp, Rondavels...
