Giraffe Ark Game Lodge — Hotel in Nyeri

It was great to be in this hotel with my family, we enjoyed the stay! The hotel is located in a serene place in Nyeri. It's 6km from the main road, the road leading to the hotel is a dirt road but you don't need a 4x4 to get there, any car will do. The hotel ground is well taken care of, the lawns were well done and clean despite being a dry season. The staff are responsive, friendly and welcoming. The rooms are great and very spacious especially the Executive rooms. The bathroom is amazing, its a room by itself and the decor was great. The food was in plenty, kudos to the chefs! The only negative thing is that they do not serve water in the restaurant, one has to buy despite staying on full-board basis. The drinks are expensive compared to other hotels of the same class. The swimming pool was really cold (its not heated) and very small such that it was crowded. The management should consider having evening entertainment (e.g bands, karaoke, acrobats etc.) especially when they have many residents around. Despite the negative and positive aspects of the hotel, overall our stay was great and I would still recommend this hotel to others! Keep it up...

We stayed at Giraffe Ark Game Lodge for three nights. We had two adjoining rooms - basically the whole of a "cottage" - and this gave us (two adults and two children) lots of space to spread out. The bathroom in one room was huge. Both bathrooms had a bath and a shower, but only the showers had hot water. The beds were large and comfortable. The cottage had outdoor seating on verandas - lovely places to sit in the early morning to view Mount Kenya. The pool was clean and a good size - but the water was very cold and the children could only stay in for short periods. The food was excellent and plenty of it. The staff was always friendly and helpful and made our stay very pleasant.||||It would have been nice to have hot water available for the bath for the children - but we managed okay with the shower. Also, it would be good to have solar heating for the pool water to make it more usable...

The Giraffe Ark is about 190 kms from Nairobi, and the road to the property is all good except for last 6 km, which is a rough road. The place is nice, with big lawns, and many activities to keep one occupied, including badminton, horse riding, chess and checkers on a big board, basketball and snooker. Game drives to Aberdare National Park and Solio Ranch are all within easy reach. We had a suite, which was very spacious and had great amenities. Being Vegetarian, we were well catered for, and the food was great.||Wifi was available around the reception, but did not reach the rooms.||The hotel has a theme of islands, and all rooms and common areas are named...
