We stayed at Kuniville for 2 nights - 2 adults and our 2-year old son. We were in town checking out Nyeri as a potential place to live after getting a job offer there. ||||It was ok - the room was fine, spacious, clean, relatively quiet. Although our windows faced the parking lot, so we did have noise from there. The garden area is nice, and the restaurant sitting area is pleasant.||||Biggest issue - they seemed to be having a supply issue when we showed up on a Thursday. That evening I asked for bottled drinking water, something every hotel in a place where the tap water isn't fully potable, should have in stock, and they didn't have any. The woman at reception handled that very poorly, in my opinion, saying that she would try to call someone, could we wait maybe 30 minutes...? It was already about 8pm at this point, and we were trying to put our son to bed, and needed water. She was unsympathetic. (We live in Uganda, so it's not like we don't understand the context in Nyeri - there were many shops selling water still open, there is no reason a hotel should be out of water in that town). ||Anyway, we ended up filling our bottles from a backup supply we very luckily had in our car (meant for our camping trip the next day. When I checked in with her ~45 minutes later, still no water, so I"m sure we would not have gotten any that night. ||||The next morning at breakfast, they didn't have either juice, or fruit, both of which had been on the list the night before and she had asked if we wanted. ||||By two days later...they had both water, and juice, etc. ||||Basically, in my opinion, when you are in the middle of a bustling town, there isn't any great excuse for being out of basics. So I wasn't impressed by any of that.||||We stayed a different guest house in town (Davis Court) later that weekend, and that was better run! ||||So - just be a bit forewarned, it is a reasonably nice place, but the service could...
Read moreSpacious apartment with bedroom and livingroom with kitchen that was sadly empty (e.g. there was a water boiler but no cups). We also had a balcony but no chairs or anything there, which was a pity.Staff friendly, we got served our dinner directly to our room, but had to wait for one to one-and-a-half hours for it.Wifi worked well. We requested transport service to get there and they told us they don’t offer any and do not have any contacts. When we were there and asked for a driver it was suddenly no problem. We booked a tour to Aberdare NP there, which was operated by treetop Safaris and where not satisfied at all, moreover we felt tricked. If you book a tour make sure that you get all the details, length etc. and insist that they take you on safari the duration of time that was agreed! Nice rooms and garden (sunbeds would be great) but atmosphere a bit cold...
Read moreQuiet little place just a few kilometers away from Nyeri town. The rooms are set up like an Airbnb probably that was the idea so big enough to accommodate a family. The rooms have basic household stuff so one can do self cooking. Enough blankets in room as the place can be extremely cold plus they have a fire place so one can hang out by the fire at night as you enjoy a drink or a hot cup of tea/chocolate. Impeccable service with freshly made meals, personalized breakfast so be patient when you order your meals they will be worth the time. The host is amazing, friendly and very responsive. So if in Nyeri and wondering where you can have some calm time try this place. Views from the balcony are amazing. They clean your car every morning for free. Will visit the place again during a...
