Lifestyle Villas Nanyuki — Hotel in Nyeri

The location of this Airbnb is great. It’s quite close to the highway and relatively close to Nanyuki town. The response I received from the host was also in a timely manner and helpful to get there and prepare for our trip. We however had a few complaints, the house was quite dusty. Especially the drawers and cupboards. There were also quite a number of insects that had been killed and were just laying around or on the walls. One of the toilet seats was broken and some of the rooms didn’t have curtains. So we woke up at sunrise as the room was very bright. We also woke up to a lot of noise from music being played by the staff. We requested them to switch it off and they did but found this unprofessional. The place is quite cold at night and no extra blankets were provided for the table room/ sitting room so carry a couple for yourselves. It would be great though if the host could provide a heater. We also had almost 7 reminders of what the checkout time was. It almost felt like we were being harassed with the host going as far as coming to knock on the door at 8am to remind us of the 10:30am checkout. There also seemed to be lack of preparation from the host as we clearly communicated that we would be 9 people in the house and that we needed a crib. The crib was only brought in at our arrival and the cutlery was not available at the time of arrival. I can't say enough about this place. It was horrible.||||As soon as we arrived, past dark, we knew there would be an issue. The guests across the parking area were out in the parking area having a bonfire, whooping and hollering, and playing music loudly. We complained. They did turn the music off, but they stayed out in the parking lot with a bon fire until TWO IN THE MORNING! ||||We complained and complained but nothing changed. Other issues: gum smashed on the floor, toe nails in the bed, no hot water in the master shower, huge spiders in the bathrooms we had to kill as soon as we got in, wifi didn't work well at all, and nasty nasty guests who were inconsiderate and rude and kept us up. ||||In the morning, Liz brought breakfast and was apologetic and said she made a nice breakfast to make up for it, but apparently the people were drunk and high and uncontrollable and we just feel that is the JOB of the manager, to get them to behave. AND, a nice breakfast doesn't make up for 4 solid hours of lost sleep! Before 9am, those folks were back outside, on OUR front porch (because that was where the sun was), drinking beer! They were asked to leave, they did NOT. Sitting on OUR front porch, yelling and talking loudly, and drinking beer and smoking their weed. It was insane! ||||She was right there! Nothing was done!~. We had several options for lodging, but chose this one specifically, because we wanted privacy and thought having a villa to ourselves was just perfect. We eagerly arrived at the villas after traveling for hours. Upon arrival, Alex, the owner, informed us that there was someone already staying in one of the rooms. We were appalled when he tried to get us to stay in a house with a complete with a stranger for a “small discount.” Per AirBnB’s rules and regulations, we asked him to please cancel our reservation and he refused, because he was concerned about his rating. He then lied and said he tried to cancel, but the app was asking him to call customer service, “Press 1, then 2...” We said, “Okay, press what they want you to.” He then begged us to cancel, so it would hinder our profile instead!!! Upon leaving the establishment, we told him to cancel within five minutes or we were going to the police. He said he’d rather deal with the police than cancel our reservation... We finally got him to say he would cancel our reservation. A few minutes after we left, he messaged us via the AirBnB app AND TRIED TO PRETEND IT WASN’T HIM WE HAD DEALT WITH! He denied that there was someone else in the villa and that we were cancelling for our own reasons. Luckily, my friends recorded our entire interaction with him and the truth will prevail.
