Nyati Hill Cottages has been the comfortable base for our holiday experience of a lifetime.
Visiting Kenya has been a tremendous experience for the entire family (two adults and two boys age 7 and 13), and Nyati Hill has fully lived up to our expectations: Peacefull, comfortable, safe, clean, friendly staff and an excellent view to Nairobi National Park.
We had 3 spacious cottages (named Lion, Giraffe and Elephant) - 2 for sleeping and one with kitchen and dining/living area. The cottages are very well equipped with nice, new king size beds, new toilet/shower and modern facilities. We felt right at home from the start! Every morning we would see animals in the national park, sometimes Rose (the housemaid) came and pointed out special animals like rhinos and ostrich. Rose had an eye for the wildlife :)
Transport to and from the airport are included, so is breakfast, cleaning and bed linin / towels.
Groceries are easily fetched at the nearby supermarket, surprisingly well-stocked. For dining, we often went to the nearby Osoita restaurant or Rolfs Place, just a mile down the road. Osoita will pick you up at Nyati Hill in a mini bus at no extra cost - really great service! Theres even an outdoor kitchen, where Osoita can come and prepare meals for you - we will certainly have to try that the next time we visit.
The kids (and we) loved the heated pool, well situated below the cottages, and the green garden. All the plants has small signs with the species - well thought and a nice touch.
The pool, garden, kitchen and the cottages where held impeccable clean, really nice.
Further, our two boys also had a lifetime experience when they got the opportunity to attend classes at the Steiner School - that is something worth telling about and remembering, when you return to your class at home :)
No doubt, Kenya gets in your blood, and our family are determined to return to Nairobi and Kenya next year!
The cottages Lion, Cheetah and Impala has a view to the national park, but all cottages are similar equipped and are all very comfortable. Theres is no air-conditioning, something that concerned us a little bit up front. But as the manager had promised, it was no problem, since the cottages are build in traditional materials, stone and grass, which helps temper the cottages perfectly both day and night. All beds have new mosquito nets.

Β Β Β Read moreWe stayed at Nyati Hill Cottages for 4 nights in June 2023. We arrived late in the evening and were given the Cheetah/Impala cottages, which have a lovely sitting area between them. ||One cottage is the living area, with large bed with mosquito netting, separate bathroom and shower/sink areas. The other cottage is the large kitchen/dining areas, fully equipped with everything you could need. Breakfast foods were also supplied, eggs, bread, fruit, juice, yogurt, cheese, butter and coffee/tea. It was more than enough and when requested, they supplied whatever we needed.||It so happened that we were the only guests during our stay, which made it extra relaxing. The grounds are beautiful and well kept with lush greenery and flowers. There is a wonderful view of the national park, where we often saw zebra, buffalo, ostrich, impala and even a lion. There is also a look out platform at the back of the resort where you can climb up a ladder for a birds eye view of the park and grounds.||Everyone was friendly and attentive. We ordered lunches and dinners, which were made by the house chef and served in our kitchen. Food was delicious and inexpensive.||The best part of our stay was the resident kitty whom we met on day one. A young male, he is friendly and very affectionate. He quickly followed us, kept us company and slept soundly on our laps. He waited for us in the mornings, sleeping on the chairs in the patio area. Not everyone loves cats, but if you do, this is a huge bonus. We asked the staff and they said he did not have a name, so we named him Swahili. The chef said she sometimes calls him Thomas. We were missing our pets back home and having Swahili around made our stay exceptional. I urge the staff to keep allowing him to live on the grounds, he is an asset and an ambassador for your cottages. Any animal lover will quickly fall in love with him.||For us that were going on safari in both Kenya and Tanzania, Nyati Hills was the perfect transition. The short stay allowed us to acclimatize to the time zone and weather, fully relaxing. For those who do not wish or cannot go on safari deep in the bush, staying at Nyati Hills is a great option. It is close to Nairobi with easy access to a national park where game drives are available, while still providing the space and creature...
