In summary we had quite an adventure during our three nights at the Osoita Lodge. The rooms can do with a renovation and modernisation, the location is convenient for Local Giraffe and Elephant attractions but otherwise in the middle of nowhere, while the owners could do with a wake up call and some good manners! The only positives for this hotel is the lady who runs the kitchen (owner's sister), she is the perfect example of good service. She would always ask what we wanted for breakfast, lunch dinner in advance - even if it was not on the menu, while the flavours and taste were always spot on! The staff (John, Elda and Victor) always went above and beyond with their service and made me give this hotel a star... Otherwise it would have definely been a zero!
We stayed at Osoita Lodge on two separate occasions during our Kenya tour. Our first experience was quite simply horrible! Little did we know our Kenyan adventure would start off with such a bang! Between the seven of us, we had booked three rooms which all experienced their own fair share of problems. The first room's light was temperamental, the second room had no hot water in the shower, while the third room simply had no running water in the sink! When we informed management of this in the morning we got a "sorry, we will sort if for when you return". Our return to Osoita didn't get any better to be honest. This time we were given four different rooms, however still with their fair share of problems. No running water in the sink, sliding doors (room 17) not fully closing and leaving an almost 1 cm gap for mosquitos to enter, one of us got locked in the bathroom with the lock coming off in our hand, collapsing mosquito nets, thin walls helping us hear our neighbours conversations and bathroom windows not closing!
I definitely would not stay or even recommend staying here. The rooms are dark and dingy and each with their share of issues. There are no extra facilities for guests to use and the WiFi is poor and temperamental.
The owners are pretty arrogant and could do with some people skills. The main guy only started to talk to us after we had given him a list of issues we had experienced - and even then, only spoke out of guilt. His wife on the other hand managed to only say one word - which was when she came to our breakfast table on the final morning, reached out her hand and said "keys"...! We didn't realised a smile, polite manners and good customer service would be at such a premium in Kenya!
