Blue Monkey Beach Cottages — Hotel in Pongwe Kikoneni ward

We enjoyed three nights here and would recommend it to anyone who likes rustic outdoor experiences. The food (prepared by a local woman in Swahili style) is delicious and affordable, the cabins are basic and clean, and the beach access is PERFECT for those who want to spend all day in the water. The sea pool is great for families to play and snorkel no matter the tide level, and there are coral reefs just off the lodge's private dock that are accessible at low tide. Bring your own snorkel gear, protective water shoes, and alcohol. Hosts Amina and Faisal are wonderful, and they offer great boat and hiking excursions, if you can get the kids to leave...
