Unparalleled Safari Luxury at Mara Intrepids Tented Camp.

Nestled in the heart of the iconic Masai Mara, Mara Intrepids Tented Camp is a true gem that seamlessly blends luxury with the untamed beauty of the African wilderness. My recent stay at this remarkable camp left me awe-struck, offering an unparalleled safari experience that exceeded all expectations.

The accommodation at Mara Intrepids is nothing short of extraordinary. The spacious and well-appointed tents provide the perfect combination of comfort and a close-to-nature experience. Surprisingly luxurious, each tent comes complete with modern amenities, including a lavish ensuite bathroom and a private veranda overlooking the picturesque surroundings. Falling asleep to the sounds of the Mara, only to wake up to the breathtaking sunrise, is an experience that will stay with me forever.

The staff at Mara Intrepids deserve accolades for their warm hospitality and impeccable service. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed by the friendly and attentive team. The camp manager and the entire staff went out of their way to ensure every need was met, making the overall experience feel like an intimate and personalized retreat.

One of the standout features of Mara Intrepids is its prime location along the Talek River. This strategic position provides guests with front-row seats to the annual Great Migration, allowing for unforgettable wildlife viewing experiences right from the comfort of the camp. The guided safari drives, led by knowledgeable and passionate guides, further enhance the opportunity to witness the diverse range of wildlife that calls the Masai Mara home.

The culinary offerings at Mara Intrepids are a delightful surprise. The camp's chefs skillfully craft a variety of delicious dishes that cater to diverse palates, all while maintaining the highest standards of quality. Dining under the African skies, surrounded by lanterns and the natural sounds of the wilderness, adds an extra layer of magic to the overall dining experience.

In addition to the exceptional safaris, Mara Intrepids offers an array of activities, including hot air balloon rides and cultural visits to nearby Maasai villages. These opportunities provide guests with a holistic understanding of the region, its people, and its wildlife.

In conclusion, Mara Intrepids Tented Camp stands as a testament to luxury in the heart of the wild. The seamless integration of opulent accommodation, exceptional service, and unrivaled wildlife encounters makes it a must-visit destination for any discerning traveler seeking an authentic and unforgettable safari experience. My time at Mara Intrepids was a journey into the heart of the Masai Mara, leaving me with memories that will...

What an AMAZING stay at the Mara Intrepids! The service is unbeatable, we felt like royals.

My parents, husband and I stayed at the Mara Intrepids for 4 nights while we were on safari in the Mara. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and elegantly done up. Our stewards Ruben and June did a great job doing up the rooms and turning down the linen in the evenings and they even brought hot coffee with the morning wake up call.

The hotel also allows smaller animals like bushbuck and baboons to roam the camp freely. Moreover, we saw elephants, hippo, crocs and a leopard across the river from the campfire that Bahatia made up nightly at the bar. The barman Eric was also very gracious and thus got to know our orders pretty well.

These campfires were made even more amazing in that Chief, the head of the local Masai tribe, was always present and happy to chat with us about Masai customs, history and the animals they have lived alongside in the Mara for centuries. Chief also conducted highly informative nightly talks at the bar on a wide variety of subjects associated with the Mara. While we were there, he covered the Great Migration, the Big Five and Masai customs. We were sorry to miss one of these talks as, our second night in, we opted for the Sundowner package.

As we rolled into the sunset view point at 6.30, we were expecting a couple of drinks and nibbles in a cooler box. When we arrived at the site though, Mary and Jane (customer relations) had created a mini restaurant just for us in the wild, with a full service bar and a live cooking station. It was really a once in a lifetime experience.

Also, since the hotel is full board, we also got to know our wonderful personal waiter, Joseph, and chef Felix really well. They served up fantastic international lunch buffets and nightly set meals. Chef Felix also went above and beyond when my husband passingly asked to try the local cuisine. The next day, he'd whipped us up a batch of a local bean dish to have alongside the buffet.

The last night though, was the most memorable. Joseph had told us to regroup at the bar when we were ready for dinner. He had a suprise dinner for us. As we did, he took us down a path lit with tealights to our own Cabana. He, chef Felix and the staff had arranged for us to have our own personal mix grill barbecue. What a fantastic suprise, it was all really wonderful and it made for a perfect last night in the Mara.

I would strongly recommend Mara Intrepids to anyone looking to have a  wonderful holiday, especially if you love chatting and getting to know people. The staff here made our trip unforgettable and, what's more, they've now become...

Just spent the perfect honeymoon over 3/4 days at Intrepids.||Ezekiel was our driver and you could not ask for better. I do not believe a finer driver of the Land Rover exists. No water too deep, no mud too dense, no angle too steep that he cannot drive it with ease. No one will get you closer to the action, all the while talking you through the lives and facts of the animals. On our first drive we could not believe what we saw, lions feasting, a 800 strong herd of buffalo and so so much more that we were almost worried we had already saw everything. But Ezekiel used all his skills to find us leopard sightings back to back (EXTREMELY rare) including an active hunt as well as a Cheetah sunbathing and lion cubs wrestling. Our whole animal checklist completed in three days with Pumba, Hyena and everything else too.||Trainee Joseph ably assisted him throughout and is a master spotter, sighting animals hiding in the bush from great distances. He will make a great driver once graduated so book|him while you can.||Mark was our resident wildlife expert, giving insightful talks around the campfire each night before dinner on nature as well as sharing his first hand experience of the local Masai culture. He was so knowledgable that we booked in for a walking safari with him where we got up close and personal to the savannah. He walked and talked us through all the flora and fauna and now there is no animal droppings I cannot identify! It was a great opportunity to get out the vehicle and really inspect the environment.||Finally the hospitality was a 5* service that you just wouldn’t expect so far into nature. Shillah and Louisiana greeted us by name every meal, had our usual drink orders ready and we talked through what we had saw that day in exchange for dessert recommendations. Service was always extremely attentive and personal. Geoffrey oversaw and made sure everything was always perfect including on the final night when we saw the whole kitchen staff perform Jambo Bwana with makeshift kitchen utensil instruments - a truly unforgettable experience and rhythm!||But to be honest all staff from porters to gardeners to Reuben doing our wake up call were exceptional - the high level of service meant you could focus 100% on the safari, including seeing hippos, elephants, Vervet monkeys, mongoose and DikDiks from the camp grounds.||Overall a perfect honeymoon...

We had 5 wonderful nights at the Intrepid camp. Everything was managed perfectly. Our family tent (27-28) overlooked the Talek river. I would say that is the best location on the camp however you have to walk a few extra minutes to the restaurants and reception. I think the extra minutes are well worth. We had elephants, hippos, crocodiles in the river in front of our tent and also by the restaurant. We had the unfortunate experience with some noisy guests in the tent next to us and an ant infestation after rain, and the hotel managed immediately! Extraordinary customer service. We had Paul as a guide, he is very knowledgeable about the Mara, and also very kind and patient with 8 year old. We saw 4 Cheetas, a leopard, and more lions, elephants, giraffes, that we imagined. So so much .ore, thank you Paul. We had a visit to a nearby Masaj Village that we enjoyed very much, Ben and Saruni was great hosts, and taught us about the Masai way of living. The food at the camp was top both. Chef George is a master, everything we ate was perfect! The team in the restaurant is great, we had Kenneth, and Bonfave, that spoiled us daily. Sylvester made some great gin and tonics every evening. Diana ensured our daughter has the best time at the adventure club and prepared great slides every evening before dinner. Nature walk with Diana and a ranger was also very special. The highlight of our trip was the sundowner! Thank you Intrepid team, we are very thankful for the experience you offered us, and more important to our daughter!

Intrepid review All I can say is “wow”! The Intrepid camp exceeded our expectations in every possible way. The food, lodging, service, and safari were all second to none. The Intrepid seems to have the best safari vehicles for viewing animals out of all the resorts. Our safari tour guide Sekud was a master spotter and driver. He was kind and knowledgeable on the animals, landscape, and culture. We truly enjoyed our time with him spotting some of the most incredible wildlife in the world. The food was thoughtfully prepared with many vegetarian options available. Our servers Paul & Masila were attentive and sweet to us. They remembered our drink orders after the first night or so and made us feel so welcome. The educational classes with Jonathan were also a big highlight. Jonathan told us many interesting fun facts about the Masai culture as well as the local wildlife. On a personal note he was a very nice man and made us feel like we were a part of a community. I cannot say enough about Jonathan! And lastly the lodging. I was not expecting to have a full restroom and shower in our tent on a safari - I was happy to be incorrect! The tents were gorgeous and well maintained. Reuben woke us up daily with coffee and tea and made us feel so cared for. If you are going to Masai Mara - don’t miss the Intrepid. We absolutely adored it for our honeymoon experience!

My second time 12 years later, this time instead of just a couple, it was with my husband, our 6 and 3 yr old kids and my dad, in a family tent. Mara intrepids never disappoints - from top notch service to the best game viewing. My kids loved the masaai dancers, king george the chef and our game driver euziekel. The staff were extraordinary, their kindness is infectious, their service impeccable and the place and the sights made us lose track of our time in our 5 night stay. The game viewing was a cherry on the top - euziekel left our kids with hugs and the best sights - first time we’ve ever seen a black rhino and so many leopards. What a stunning holiday. Thank you to the Mara team- u are as amazing as my first trip. My kids say when they grow up, they will be back from South Africa 🇿🇦 to Kenya 🇰🇪 Mara intrepids. 🙏
