Grogan's Castle Hotel — Hotel in Taita–Taveta

My wife and I went went to Kenya for a grand experience. We decided to venture south and decided to go to Taveta as part of our experience. We saw the reviews of Grogan's Castle Hotel and decided to stay there. We made the right choice.|The hotel sits upon a hill with great views of the landscape. The icing on the cake is that Mt. Kilimanjaro is right in front of you. Beautiful!!|Basil and Barbara are the owners/hosts. They are wonderful people and go the extra mile to make sure that each guest is as happy and satisfied as possible. They will bend over backwards for you.|We slept VERY well there. The rooms have comfortable beds and the showers/bathtubs have consistent hot water with good water pressure. At night, it's very quiet.|The food is excellent! Patrick the main chef can cook anything and the he made each meal with fresh ingredients and a good variety of dishes.|There is a nice pool that felt great to go into because we were there at a very hot time. The grounds are also well maintained and offer a very chill vibe.|The other experience that is offered are game drives. There are animals on their private game reserve. We really enjoyed our stay at Grogan’s Castle. The hotel is situated on a hill with fabulous views towards Kilimanjaro. The building and history are fascinating. The rooms have been maintained in a traditional style in keeping with the history.||The bedrooms are large and airy with air-conditioning, which was a very welcome relief as the weather has been exceptionally hot and humid. A large circular dining room has large windows with views across the plains. The food was really good. The bar prices reassuringly sensible. A most unusual infinity swimming pool has been hewn out of the rock and looks straight across to Kilimanjaro||Our main impression was that this place is such fun to visit. My first time hearing and learning about the castle and of course I was very excited to get a taste of this magnificent and historical castle which by the way has an amazing view. My friends and I wanted to spend the afternoon there, swim etc and even considering spending more time there during our tour of Taita Taveta County. Unfortunately, we didn't feel welcomed at all, it felt like we were not their 'ideal guests.'
