Fred Hunter Villa — Hotel in Tiwi ward

This property is in extreme disrepair. If you have booked please cancel your stay, if you haven’t please don’t book. We had reserved the stay for the 1st to 5th of January however we only stayed the first night since we arrived late and had no other option than to stay. The house was really dirty, there was sugar spilled on the living room carpet, all the towels were stained and so were some of the pillow cases and bedsheets. The beds were dusty and bore a layer of dirt on them, we had to lay our own clothing in them before we could sleep. Some of the bed frames were infested by termites and hence couldn’t be moved, none of the bedroom doors could lock and some bathroom doors didn’t even have knobs and handles. One of the toilets didn’t flush and we had to use buckets of water to clean them. Several taps didn’t work, the furniture inside and on the patio was super dusty. There’s no AC in the property and the fans provided were dusty and rusty and made a creaking noise when turned on making it impossible to sleep. There’s a serious mosquito problem, there are nets provided above the beds but they were full of dust, insect and rat droppings as well as dead insects. The fire extinguisher in the property is expired and looks like it’s just for show. The bug screens on the windows are broken, there’s exposed wiring in the property inside the house and on the patio. When we arrived the patio area smelled of fresh paint and there were paint stains all over the veranda on the outside of the house, the front door could not only not close but couldn’t be locked either. Most of my family had to sleep outside since we kept sneezing inside the house due to the dust. The pool was nice but had a milky white Color to it is indicating it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a while.

We brought all concerns to the host who insisted that the house was clean despite evidence and a literal walk through of the home. She sent someone to clean the house but this someone was a lady we had engaged through the host to cook for us during our stay. We could tell that the host was lying when she said that it was also the chefs responsibility to clean. Since obviously the chef wasn’t willing to take this burden on, no cleaning was done after the fact. The host did not come to check on us after she had asked the lady to clean to find out if everything was ok nor did she call. Attempts to reach her on the phone were futile as she didn’t answer any of our calls or sometimes the calls didn’t even go through. When asked about this later she insisted that she saw the calls come through, picked up but I hung up before she could speak which was absolutely untrue. We tried to call her over ten times with all the phone numbers she provided.

The story about the cleanliness of the home changed each time we confronted her, since the walkthrough when we checked in where we asked for the house to be cleaned again we didn’t see the host again until the van arrived the next morning to ferry us to our replacement booking. She hurried out of her house which is right next to the stay and when asked again about the state of the home the story changed where she said that she waited for us to arrive so the home could be cleaned which is quite a mediocre statement to make to a paying guest at least in my opinion. In short the host is unresponsive upon check-in, dishonest and scammy at the least.

There’s so much more I could say about this property but I’d be typing all day. Long story short, DO NOT BOOK! It’s a waste of...

And I most be lucky that I was alone because dis house you share it with other people so if you want too cook and they are other people and use already the kitchen you can wait till they are done.the only privacy that you have is the too lidle room.Dis place is just ok for a family too rent.Bud they for rent it per room and that is not ok.like I said I was lucky that there was alone.just too think that all dis rooms was with other people makes me already crazy.12 sleeping places and only 1 table with 6 chairs .For me I will not book dis...

The owners; "a Lady" and “Collins”are kind and helpful. They did their best for us. They prepared the pool. The shower is hot. Wi-Fi speed is very good. There was a hot shower. The area of the Villa is green and beautiful. It is pinned exactly in the Google map. The villa has separate rooms with private bathrooms, but the kitchen and hall are shared. Collins is a very nice and great man. He takes care of everything. I know that it is a low budget Villa, but it has many problems. Most of the window nets are torn. So bugs, lizards, Centipede and Mosquitoes can come inside easily. Most of the Kitchen appliances are very old. The door of the bathroom has no handle.
