Overall pretty good hotel. Rooms are decorated tastefully and are spacious. Enormous balcony and sea view, though the sea view from the room and balcony as shown is just a few slivers thru the trees and a bit far off. From the restaurant and pool you are right next to the water. Access to water is through a tunnel in the rock that leads you to rocky coral/seaweed so you have to walk over that several hundred meters at low tide to reach the closest sandy beach. Pools are saltwater with a deep one and a shallow infinity pool facing the coast, clean and well-maintained. There is a small game area with functional pool table, dartboard, foosball. Only 12 rooms in this complex so it’s quiet and intimate, good for families or couples wanting quiet time. We went in low season, March. Exercise room is open air and has a few good machines but no free weights. No fan or air conditioning so it could be difficult to exercise in the heat. Food is just okay, mostly mediocre. We ate there a few times but you’re better off getting good Italian food at some of the other restaurants nearby. A few other small negatives: WiFi is weak as we were unable to connect for a zoom call while there so don’t expect to do much business online. Tv in room has Netflix and other streaming capability, but while we were there, apparently the subscription was not paid so we could only watch YouTube on the television. This was not fixed in the three days we were there. Drinking water is rationed here. One staff member argued with me that water is very expensive in Kenya, which I’m not sure that I can agree with since we live here. You’re given 1 L of water in the room after each cleaning, which on a hot humid day does not last you very far for two people. It would help if there were a water dispenser in the restaurant or bar that people could continually fill up on as they mark up bottled water considerably here. With all that said, I would stay here again. Thanks for a...
Read moreMawe Zuri is such a beautiful, scenic, and relaxing resort! I went there to celebrate my birthday and stayed for three nights and four days.
Appearance: it looks exactly the way it appears in pictures. I loved the concept of a resort on a cliff with an ocean view. In the morning, it was possible to access the ocean on low tide and see small crabs crawling and oysters. The cavey look is nice and good for photos.
Facilities: I used the two pools (one infinity and the other bigger and deeper). They would get warm at night, which made it even more enjoyable to use. The restaurant makes good food by order, affordable, too. There was a gym and spa which I did not use. The room was big and spacious with a TV, sufficient drinking water, and a nice-looking bathroom. I was only sad that it did not have a toothbrush and toothpaste. I loved the Swahili accent to the rooms.
Service: Service was great from the reception to the room and restaurant. I...
Read moreIf you're looking for a quiet stay in Watamu where being on the beach is optional, you've found the place. The rooms are spacious and clean; wi-fi is strong throughout the property; service has the famous Swahili hospitality that was born on these shores of the Indian Ocean. There are some telescopes on the cliff deck so you can maybe star gaze at night or spot whales and dolphins when in season. The property is small which makes it intimate. No need to walk kilometres to get to the restaurant or back to your room. Speaking of restaurants, meals are a la carte. Is that how you spell it? Doesn't matter. You get...
