Mei Place Apartments — Hotel in ziwa La Ng'ombe ward

Booked an ocean view room. There are NO ocean view rooms. If you go up to the roof, look over buildings and trees, about 1/2 a mile away you can see some water.||No free breakfast as advertised, wanted to charge us each $5. For breakfast. We went out and bought food to cook, found the refrigerator not work, just like the TV.||The next day they got the refrigerator and the TV working. Upon arriving, we wanted diner at the beach, the hotel workers informed us the beach was too dangerous after dark.||There is AC in the bedroom, but the coolness never reaches the living room, this is important if you are there at midday.||We informed the front desk, of our issues. That message was never passed on.||I spent 3 hours on the phone with Hotels.Com, they called the hotel, the hotel lied and said they have an ocean view, and they gave us breakfast. I rented an apartment for 4 days in early april 2013. Place was very quiet, probably due to tourism at a low cause of the recent Kenyan elections. ||Mei Place is located just half a mile from the Nyali shopping center which was recently expanded and another big one i forgot the name. Its on a quiet street in a suburban area. From the roof -with a small pool- you can see the Indian ocean. My apartment had a full kitchen, double bed, shower (good), couch, TV and a/c. Price was 7500 KES a night. They have smaller rooms but they have no fridge for instance. Bed was good and i slept well. My friends and I stayed there for 5 nights as part of a one month tour in Kenya from Atlanta Everyone from the owner Joyce to all members of staff were so warm and constantly enquired about our well being to ensure that we were comfortable at all times. The apartments are spacious and immaculately clean. Joyce was readily available to answer any questions that we had regarding the best places to tour in Mombasa. The pool at the roof top is fabulous and great for cooling off on a hot afternoon. It provides a beautiful view of the Indian ocean. In addition, the property is beautifully landscaped with the garden equipped with beautiful patio furniture on which we relaxed while surfing on our laptops (wi-fi access is free which is a definite plus).
