Nestled on the serene shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, Caprice is a culinary gem that offers not just a meal, but an unforgettable dining experience. During my recent visit to this exquisite restaurant, I was left in awe of its breathtaking setting, impeccable service, and, of course, the delectable cuisine.
Ambiance (5/5): Caprice boasts a truly magical atmosphere. The restaurant's design seamlessly blends modern elegance with rustic charm, creating a space that is both comfortable and romantic. The highlight, without a doubt, is the expansive outdoor terrace that overlooks the glistening waters of Lake Issyk-Kul. Dining here as the sun sets is an experience that will remain etched in your memory.
Cuisine (5/5): The menu at Caprice is a gastronomic journey through Kyrgyzstan's rich culinary heritage and beyond. Each dish is a work of art, both in presentation and taste. From traditional Kyrgyz classics like manti and lagman to international delights like perfectly grilled steaks and fresh seafood, every bite is a revelation. The flavors are authentic and rich, showcasing the best of local ingredients.
Service (5/5): The service at Caprice is nothing short of exceptional. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the menu. They are more than willing to provide recommendations and accommodate special requests. Even during busy evenings, the service remains prompt and attentive.
Drinks (5/5): The drink selection is equally impressive, with a diverse range of wines, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. I particularly enjoyed the local wines that complemented the meal beautifully.
Price (4/5): While Caprice is not a budget dining option, the prices are justified by the overall experience. The quality of ingredients, the stunning location, and the top-notch service make it worth the splurge for a special occasion.

Read moreKapriz Issyk-Kul Resort has an amazing location by the lake, but unfortunately, that’s the only good thing about it. Everything else about our stay was disappointing and far below expectations for a place that calls itself a “luxury resort.”
The rooms are decent and fairly well-maintained, but the bedding setup is simply unacceptable. They provide only basic single beds, and for families, they just push two single beds together with one blanket and one bed sheet. If you’re traveling with a child and plan to sleep together, you’ll spend the whole night pushing the mattresses back into place instead of getting any rest. There’s no extra blanket provided, even upon request.
During our stay, there were frequent power cuts that affected electricity, water, and Wi-Fi — and shockingly, the resort doesn’t have a generator. At one point, my wife was in the middle of a shower when the power went out and the water stopped completely. I went to the reception in the dark, only to be told she could “wait for two hours until the power comes back” or “come out.” When I asked how she was supposed to do that with soap still on her head, their only solution was to hand me small drinking water bottles to rinse off with. That’s their idea of service at a “luxury” resort.
To make things worse, they don’t even provide basic amenities like bathrobes — something even smaller yurts in the region managed to offer us.
The resort feels completely disorganized. The front desk staff are untrained, uninterested, and lack any sense of hospitality. You have to follow up repeatedly for the simplest requests. The restaurant is overpriced, and if you ask for room service, they charge an additional 20% fee on your total bill. Even then, the service is painfully slow and unprofessional.
For the high rates they charge, the experience was nowhere near worth it. It’s honestly a shame because the natural surroundings are breathtaking, and the lake view is beautiful. But the poor management, lack of service, and careless attitude of the staff ruin what could have been an incredible stay.
Until the management takes guest comfort seriously and fixes these major issues, I would not recommend this resort — and I definitely...
Read moreNo English menu. The waiter gave us an A4 page menu without prices for a tour group buffet (that we obviously didn’t belong to). After 20 minutes and involving 2 other staff we finally got a ragged printed menu. Most items were not available after we ordered them. (Why not print an updated menu with items actually available? It’s just a piece of A4 paper anyway.) The next day we hung up the please clean the room sign; they didn’t because “we were not sure if we could come in; and now at 3:30pm all cleaning staff are gone”. Two days no electricity (day one from 8pm-3am, day two during the whole afternoon); and no running water on day one during the electricity outage (no water for toilet or bath). No candles provided to have even a bit of light in absolute darkness. No one told us during check-in that we can use WhatsApp to chat with reception staff. No drinking water in the room. No teabags in the room. (Most unusual for...
