AZURE SPORT RESORT — Hotel in Issyk-Kul Region

Booked this hotel for five days, but ended up staying one night only. Pros: Close to the waterline Calm and quiet When we asked for an early checkout and refund for the three nights - the receptionist has refunded with no problem. Usually in Kyrgyzstan it is quite a mission to get a refund for anything, so that was great service I thought. Cons: Charges $110 per night, which is obscenely expensive for the services provided: rooms are in a very bad condition - stayed in comfort +. No decor - just 2 twin beds (that had to be moved together by us to turn them into a double bed), old tv, wardrobe and a very loud fridge that can’t be on if you want to sleep at night. It’s all very basic inside the room, feels isolated and empty. the beds are so bad, you can literally feel the metal springs of the very old mattress that feels like it hasn’t been changed since the soviet times. no toiletries, slippers or gowns provided. -rooms don’t get cleaned daily. Only after check out. The gym is very old, impossible to work out properly as missing basic training equipment. the food. There is only one canteen in the resort and one bar (only serves drinks and snacks - although coffee at the bar was impeccable). It was full board for the price but the food was so very bad that it had to be forced down. The lack of other cafes on the territory of the resort meant that you can only eat bad food at the canteen or starve. To add to this, there were not enough tables in the canteen so guests had to be divided into two seating times to make room, which we were not made aware of. proximity for shops and restaurants is sparse. You have to get a cab (which is a mission of its own) or walk 20-30mins on a highway. the resort is operated on a cash only or local transfer system which foreigners do not have. No ATM and no card payment terminals available. it’s a sport resort and has a swimming pool (per website two - indoor and outdoor, but in reality only one indoor), basketball court and a tennis court (we did not see it) - but these are not free for use for guests. They charge 100som per hour per person which is ridiculous given the price per night. Wi-Fi was so bad, you couldn’t use it at all. We downloaded films prior so spent our evening watching films on our laptop in the room. at checkout we have asked if we could leave our luggage somewhere safe until our car has arrived and the reception have told us to leave the luggage by the sofas in the public hall. I would have thought a private space should be made available for these things to keep belongings safe and to not litter the public hall with luggages. English language is poorly spoken at reception. territory is well kept but very small. Nowhere to walk really. The beach line is so small that during peak season there wouldn’t be enough space for all the guests. So all in all, very overpriced resort with nothing to do if you don’t want to pay extra every time. In old condition and needs renovation and furniture upgrade and cafe openings on site if they want to keep the same price point. I do not...

First thing I didn't like is that yesterday they prepared a dinner table for me and my wife and surprised us that we have to share the table with another two guests.

When we questioned this action, they excused themselves with the idea that there are many guests and limited tables.

We asked them to give us our own table for the next meal and they promised to do so.

Today in the morning the table was again prepared for 4 people not two, but somehow the other two guests didn't show up.

At lunch again the same situation and the other two guests (a man and his wife) came and both sides (us and them) didn't really feel comfortable.

When talking to the managers they suggested to specify time for us and for them within the meals time.

We refused and pointed that there were empty tables.

Will update you if any thing new happen.

UPDATE: After few times of insisting not to share the table finally we got our own table.

OTHER COMMENTS: Not enough sea seats on the beach (there were total of 10 only) No lifeguard on the beach at any time Indoor swimming pool: extra fees to use it + limited time (13:00 - 15:30) Food menu is not the best on all three meals (breakfast - launch - dinner) in other words (very humble menu and food with almost no vegetables or fruits)

I'm at Azure now. Location is good, convenient, close to beach. Beach isn't bad and though it's a lot of gravel & rock it's not too painful to walk on. Flowers & fruit trees are nice. Sports areas might be good for those who want it. Gym is good sized but simple. Other sports amenities.

It's late July and our room is very hot, no A/C. Dinner was 900 som each and the plov was not good at all—don't order their meals. There is a pool but not included & you have to pay extra. Sometimes there's loud disruptive people outside even late at night.

Breakfast wasn't included and the rooms didn't have soap. Very basic quality. No WiFi.
