Olimpija — Hotel in Daugavpils

Excellent service from personnel - always smiling and even if there were some language related difficulties, they still tried their best at helping out me and my friend. I am very fond of the memories there and miss that place already.

We kind of fell for one of the pool girls, but never manned up to ask her out, however, she was just doing her job, so maybe that would've disturbed her. Still a great service from her - she lent me hair comb and other stuff. I am mentioning this because I kind of regret not asking more about her. Oh well, maybe some other time.

I am only giving four stars because there are some downsides to the place which can not be overlooked. In the room me and my buddy were sleeping, from bathroom a very nasty odor was coming - at first we thought that it was our fault somehow, but after thoroughly washing it, we realized that the smell must be coming from the pipes. The mattress that I slept on had some reddish spots as well as pillow - good thing sheets were clean and new. The common fridge on the fourth floor had some bugs inside which was funny for us, but it might put off some people. After we reported it, it was taken care of. I am glad that no bothersome room service didn't come to clean our room - I like to take care of my own stuff.

We didn't use sports services there, but from what it looked like, it's a pretty good place for sports practices (including boxing).

Best part for us was obviously the pool and several saunas. It was super cool and we also received a back massage which was nice. For all our drinking at Daugavpils it was a great chance of relaxation.

I still kind of feel guilty for not getting something for the nice pool girl on the 14th of February (we were staying during that week), but we were in no shape to be flirting with anyone. I think I even got her name wrong since I am so bad with Russian names. Oh well.

We needed a place to stay in Daugavpils accidentally as our car had a defect near Lithuania/Latvia borders. The big "Latgola" hotel where we were initially sent was full so we ended up in Olimpija. When we parked in front of the hotel we were afraid that it is going to be quite terrible as the building itself does not look very fancy and it is surrounded by either unfinished or already falling apart buildings. ||||But then we discovered that this hotel is a really great value for money. ||||We were three - two adults and a 10-year-old kid. We got a room for two and they brought us a cot for the kid. The room was simple but it had a standard equipment including TV and a bathroom with shower and wc. There is also free wi-fi in the hotel. Breakfast was included in the price although it was a served breakfast and we could not chose what we would have. ||||And what is the best - there is a big swimming pool, fitness, sauna and steam and it is all already included in the price. It is open every day from noon to 10 pm. ||||The price for all the above for the three of us was 45 euros per night which is pretty awesome I think. ||||There are two supermarkets close to the hotel, as well as a tramway station to the centre. And in this city (which is the 2nd biggest city in Latvia but otherwise it is rather small :-) ), there is the best preserved military fortress in Europe - Dinaburg Fortress - and I highly recommend to everybody to see it. ||||So I can recommend this hotel to everybody who is not addicted to luxury. Upd.2024 Стоимость посещения- 15 евро. Ожидали изменений в лучшую сторону, но не все однозначно. Вода в бассейне прохладная, но можно погреться в банях. На кассе спросили все ли работает, ответили "да". Джакузи не работал, там меняли воду, потом сказали, что проблема с горячей водой, так и не запустили. Скамейк мало, на них лежат полотенца посетителей пока они в банях или плавают. В холодной бане не было льда, сказали, что там что-то сломалось. В соляной бане соль была прямо в целофановом пакете, потом целофан убрали. Душ не везде работает, некоторые только прохладная вода, регулировать температуру воды нельзя. Шкафчики для одежды свеже покрашенные, но внутри нет крючков, чтобы одежду повесить. Парковка отличная. Чеки не дали, но мы специально не просили.

Archive. Несколько разного типа бань - это все из положительного. Все начиная со входа сильно использованное. Шкафчики все поломанные-отремонтированые и ржавые. Лучше ничего ценного не оставлять. Душ - отдельная тема: просто включить нельзя, нужно нажать кнопку, включиться вода на несколько секунд, потом нужно подождать некоторое время и снова нажать на кнопку. РЕГУЛИРОВАТЬ ТЕМПЕРАТУРУ ВОДЫ НЕЛЬЗЯ. На всех была отрегулирована прохладная вода. Сам бассейн не очень чистый - в углах волосы. Джакузи не работает постоянно, а переодически включают. Но оно все время занято. Очень дорогой за...
