Kārklu Muiža Hotel — Hotel in Jelgava

The employees made this place worth 5 stars. We first had a room where a couple of things didn't really work, which the employee tried to fix in a very customer-friendly way. But then we got a free upgrade because of the tv not working, which was something we very much appreciated. The room we got after that was very luxurious, even though the circleshaped bed was a bit weird, and there was no airco in the rooms (even though it was supposed to be there). We booked 3 double rooms for 3 nights. Rooms are big and clean,comfortable beds,great view.Had the best sleep there.Shower was big and clean, but had only 2 small sachets of gel for 2 adults during 3 days. We used them on a first day. Better to have your own one. Towels were not refreshed. Breakfast was tasty, great celection for adults and kids. You can order lunch on request but the choice is basic and took too long. Location is not great for whoever is a first time in the town but its not that far from the town if you...

Not a bad place to stay overnight (hence the 5-star rating), but with a catch. There is a railway nearby, and the noise and vibration coming from it ruined my sleep completely. Jelgava is a major railway hub, so the noise is made mostly by long freight trains, and when they are passing by, it takes ages. Once you start falling asleep, the next train is already approaching. All of this is accompanied during summer time by constant croaking of frogs in the pond nearby :).
