Pils — Hotel in Kandava

We stayed in the family flat for 2 nights. Lovely decor, but booked for 4 people and there was only enough beefing for three. No worries, we’d sort it out when we went for dinner. However the kitchen was closed at 1930 despite the advertised time of 2000. This is an issue in Kandava where there isn’t any other real option for dinner. I was on a downer about the place.|Breakfast next morning was good with bacon and fried eggs, after a fashion. I started liking the place again, so we went for dinner that night (at 1730 to make sure!). Dinner was good. A traditional sort of a place serving hearty, well-priced meals to travellers and offering a few rooms as well. They found space for our bicycles in an outbuilding. ||||The room was quite hotel-like, ie a step up from most guesthouses, but it lacked a mirror and a wardrobe or chest of drawers, there was just a coat rack on the wall. The curtains were pale and flimsy so didn't block the light at all. There were no hooks or shelves in the bathroom and, while the shower cubicle was large, it had an ordinary radiator in it which was a bit strange.||||Breakfast was OK, nothing special.||||All in all, this is good value for money and fine for a stay of a night or two. But please, proprietors, put a few hooks up in the bathroom and provide a chest of drawers or a wardrobe so guests don't have to live out...
