Me and my wife tried to organize birthday event in Rumene manor. We met with Janis Zvirbulis and Elina Paunina and agreed on general terms like rent price, scope of service, catering that should be at reasonable prices effective in Latvian market etc. It happened 3 weeks prior to the event. We made consent that everything we agreed on would be put on paper and be sent out to us while we were traveling abroad. Advance payment euro 3000 was done to make reservation in force. ||We contacted them few times reminding them about commitment but they were postponing answering few times. Ultimately we received proforma which had nothing to do with that we agreed on. When we expressed our surprise about figures provided they told us that we would sort everything out when we come. We came to Riga one week prior to the event and met to negotiate. We were told that prices were changed because their manager hadn't approved them. We asked them to explain why they negotiated if their decision had no force. Our requirement to negotiate with that manager was rejected because that manager was allegedly on vacation. Finally we were compelled to refuse from Rumene idea and to look for different place to arrange our event though very few places were available in the area. In fact the only one place of an appropriate level was available which reservation was canceled by chance lucky for us. We suspect that those people new about shortage of appropriate places, postponed negotiations deliberately and tried to blackmail us when they decided that we had no other choice. We would never recommend our friends to arrange...
Read moreDear friends Jamie & Elina booked this venue after much research for their Wedding last weekend.||Every detail of the restoration of the building was perfect. It has the feeling of a Stately Home and is a private house for the owners use some times. ||The accommodation is world class and the very friendly staff Excellent and so happy to help with anything. The chef's we met, Ronald and Artis, are Masters and clearly love their work. ||We were taken care of by Eva and Lasme incredibly well and both have such passion for their clientelle care. ||The Wedding in the small Lutherian Church in neighbouring Kandava was impeccably organised by the Happy Couple with huge support locally by Arvis and his contacts. The service included a Latvian and English priest and was conducted in both languages, and included many Latvian traditions.||The accommodation in the converted stables is sumptuous, arranged over two floors. Huge, light and airy with views of the house and front lawn with a table and chairs in the sunshine too. ||We stayed for a luxury week then moved on to Riga for one night in the Bergs Hotel owned by the same people. ||The group of friends came from all over the world and loved it so much that the talk is of returning for the first anniversary next year. ||Many thanks to all the staff for creating an unforgettable experience in the most wonderful...
Read moreRumene Manor can trace its history going back 600 years . The current main building in Neo Gothic style was completed in 1876 . The manor house belonged to various leading German noble families until it became a state property around 1920 . Thereafter it fell in need of increasing repair . In 2004 the family owning the Small Luxury hotel in Riga ; Bergs ; Dana and Just Karlson bought the manor house and started what is an ongoing extraordinary renovation . The family has direct ties to the Berg's family who were a leading Riga family . They live in San Francisco but spend each August in the manor . They have renovated the main building and some other buildings to the highest level including . They have equipped the main building with an extensive art collection . There is a beautiful garden border on a beautiful lake . There is a charming old German town you drive through some 10 min. prior to arriving at the manor house . It contains 14 suites and great common areas . It is a wonderful place to stay and place to remember . So my respectful comments on a great property which has now got and extended life for many , many...
