Grisli House is an excellent, family-friendly place to spend a weekend in the vicinity of Valmiera. The city is just a few minutes of driving away, though it's worth mentioning that the kilometer or so of the road leading to the highway is pretty bad.
The two-story house is spacious and reasonably comfortable, there are a couple of small smart TVs, free Wi-Fi access point, basic kitchen (fridge and a stovetop with two gas burners, but no oven or dishwasher) and a shower room with a washing machine. Second story bedroom comes with a balcony, but the bedding is somewhat lackluster - nothing fundamentally wrong with it, but I expected something more luxurious. It's worth noting that the place is family-oriented and kids friendly, with a separate small nursery, plenty of toys, and an outdoors playground complete with a trampoline.
It's also pretty good for pets, since there's a huge lawn around the house for them to frolic about, but it should be noted that despite appearances the territory is not fully enclosed, so there's an opportunity for your pets to run off unless closely watched.
The real attraction, however, is the fact that the house is well-equipped for a relaxed countryside evening, as it comes with a very decent private sauna, and a basic set of grilling equipment. It takes about two and a half hours to get the sauna all fired up, and it's pretty good, the only drawback being is that it seems to be strictly Russian style. At about 90 degrees Celsius the water cistern starts bubbling gently, producing plenty of steam. I was a bit disappointed as I tend to favor Finnish style dry steam sauna, but it was pretty darn good nonetheless.
One other minor drawback is that the local tap water gives off strong sulfuric odor, as it's wont in some areas around Baltic states, but it's perfectly safe, just mildly unpleasant.
All in all, Grisli House gets my wholehearted recommendation, because on top of all the stuff it offers, the prices are pretty low, so the overall value is...

¡Totalmente...
